My dr switched me from Lexapro to Zoloft yesterday since it seemed the Lexapro stopped working. Question: I was taking 15mg of Lexapro and she said the comparative Zoloft dose is 150mg and to just stop the lexapro and start the zoloft. I am just trying to verify that the 150 dose of zoloft is right.

Not sure you can do a comparitive completely. But starting dose of zoloft recommended by zoloft 50mg. Isn't lexapro 10mg or is it 20mg?. I'd think 75mg of zolft might be in the ballpark but seriously not sure. Phillipa

It's just a vague approximation. I assume that you doctor is thinking that because 15mg of Lexapro is 3/4 of the maximum recommended dose, then 150mg of Zoloft would be equivalent because it is also 3/4 of the maximum dose. This is neither accurate nor scientific :) There is no precise 'equivalent dose' so your doctor can only guess.
Personally, I would be tempted to start with a lower dose of Zoloft (eg. 100mg) because you can easily increase the dose if necessary.
This is the end of the thread.
