How Do You Know If Med Is Pooping Out Vs Bad Days?

Posted by Purple40 on April 30, 2010, at 9:33:24

This may be a silly question but... how do you know if your meds such as an antidepressant, may be on the verge of stopping to work (pooping out), or if your're just having bad days? Sometimes I can't really tell if I'm having a glimmer of a good day and then other days are 'bad' or meds aren't working but never great, happy days, energetic days with any of them. Hope that made sense. Any insight into this??

I've been having that problem for the last couple of years. Ever since the abilify. I was trying to switch from zyprexa to abilify. Since stoping the abilify and going back to zyprexa, it seems to not be as effective. Some times more than others. I almost wonder if some of the pills are bogus.? What I have found is that I'm taking more of the zyprexa for the same effect. And I added perphenazine, which also seem weak some times. Other times I just sleep all day. The odd thing is that they seem to be working better than when I first stoped the abilify. I was taking 50mg of zyprexa a day right after and still not as effective as 10mg was before.? Now I take 15mg zyprexa and 12mgx3 perphenazine. I didn't take the perpehanazine before.

So maybe if you just keep taking the med it will start working again. Or maybe it has just slowly pooped out on you. When I get poop out it is like the med is not doing nothing and you can stop it with out any ill effects.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. If I run a few errands or do a few things around the house, etc., then I'm thinking okay, I'm having a 'good' day right? This may last only one day or up to 2-3. Then, it's like I just want to sleep or just do nothing, watch tv or even stare into space so this would be considered a 'bad' day. Most of the anti-depressants that I've taken have not been generic so I can't really blame it on that but you're right, it's almost like I need to juggle the dosage around to feel some kind of effect. I'm sure the doctors get tired of my calling and complaining about this so I don't anymore. I used to take Zyprexa for serious panic attacks at bedtime and it worked very well. I took a very low dosage. I wish someone could take a look at all the meds I am on and give me some suggestions. Can you do this? I just started taking Lamictal about 6 weeks ago. It has helped with my mood. Not sure what else it is supposed to do though. I think I do better on 50-100mg a day. My doctor was trying to get me to take 300mg a day. That's when I had those sores. Thanks for 'listening'.

Usually always feel the same on all of these meds, just tired. I'm not even sure how I'm supposed to feel on each one anymore. Maybe combining so many meds is having a negative effect. Who knows.... ???

What meds do you take? I didn't have a good result from lamictal. Took it for about 4 months. Have you stoped or started any meds recently, that might have affected the poop out? What med pooped out? I think with the Lamictal it didn't seem to do much. Slight antidepressant effect at lower doses, 50mg. I've actualy posted on here about it when I was taking it. It was a long time ago. Think I was posting as Sebastian back then. Maybe you can find them on the psycho babble seach?
