Sleep issues and benzos

Posted by tonyz on April 28, 2010, at 11:30:03

I've posted a lot on this board and gotten a lot of helpful responses; I hope I'm not overextending myself.

I've been grappling with insomnia. I think it is getting better now but, I'm concerned about taking 30mg of Restoril and 1 mg of clonazepam at bedtime. The restoril was added about 6 days ago, can I just stop taking it? Can I open the capsules and just take half of the contents I only have 30mg capsules

The Clonazepam I've been taking for about 3 months so I will have to taper it more slowly.

My doctor has a very cavalier attitude towards these drugs which I don't understand. He seems to think you can just do what you want with them.

Tony most docs are very careful with these meds. Just take for now. Are they working? Phillipa

Phillipa,
I think the clonazepam is doing more than the restoril just don't feel I'm getting that deep restorative sleep.

Well he is wrong! Some people have the most awful withdrawal symptoms when their sleeping tablets are stopped or reduced.
