Just had ECT done, how long til antiseizure med?

Posted by qbsbrown on March 27, 2010, at 19:48:35

I actually just finished a series of 6 ect treatments, for psychosis unresponsive to medications, and it helped some, i would like more, but can't afford it.

Is there a particular reason why my PDOC is now AVIDLY against putting me on trileptal immediately, or perhaps he said we wouldn't talk about it til next week.

Is the brain already adjusting and creating it's own antiseizure mechanisms? But i have the trileptal RX, and it helps much, so why do i wait til next week?

He has me on Xanax, and i also have provigil as well, but i'm quite worthless just on a benzo.

I'm glad the ect helped some. I had a positive experience with it as well.
Your doc not wanting to put you on trileptal seems very odd to me.

I agree. I was like, lets start it now. I have read that sometimes ect can help reset the brain to accept meds better.

I have nothing bad to say about ect, and i wish i had more money to carry out more treatment, as i only had 6

What if you need more ECT but can't affofd it?

My 6 ect treatments are the only thing that has brought some relief to psychotic phenomenea brought on by a cold turkey from a benzo. If for sure need more treatments, but have no insurance, and in utah they do not accept medicade for it.

The hospital requires about 600 of a down deposit for each treatment, and i can't afford any more.

Any ideas of what to do?

Kind regards

Brian
