Magnesium citrate is the easiest magnesium to orally absorb. I take besides the calcium/mg in 2/1 ratio extra 200mg of magnesium at night. Helps with excretion. Also the heart has both calcium and magnesium transferring back in forth in the heart muscle very important for healthy hearts. When a Mother has a child and is at risk for seizures from eclampsia she is given mg sulfate Iv. Very dangerous condition. So it doesn't surprise me to hear this. Although don't have it lots of others here do. Got to google the condtion at birth though for proper term. Phillipa

I find that a megadose of calcium exacerbates my depression within hours of taking it. There is a delicate balance of actions between magnesium and calcium in neurons, paricularly presynaptically. In addition, magnesium ions serve as a dampener to reduce the excitability of glutamate NMDA receptor membranes.
