Anyone take 200mg or 100mg? does it help with thoughts or anxiety?

Seriously at one time tried 50mg and just got this wierd salivation and couldn't stop spitting and had to stop. I tried again same thing. I did think I might have been more angry then as slammed a plastic bottle against a building. Phillipa

Wonderful drug RJ. AD monotherapy made me cycle with overwhelming fatigue, apathy, anxiety, agitation, couldn't concentrate, etc... Does well for my depression dominated soft bipolar.

I had an extremely unpleasant reaction to Lamictal. I started at 25mg for a month at which time my doctor raised my dose to 50mg. Within two days I began getting sore spots on my tongue and in my throat; 48 hours later I had swollen spots all over my mouth and throat, a thick white coating on my tongue and open sores on the inside of both cheeks at the gum line. I couldn't eat, toothpaste felt like habanero sauce and it took forever to clear up - at least two weeks. It was extremely painful and very surprising because normally I metabolize drugs quickly and need higher doses.

I've had an excellent response to Lamictal as well. I started at 25mg daily then went to 25mgs morning and 25mgs at bed and finally settled on a 100mg dose with breakfast for close to 3 years now...no hospitalizations, no missed days of work, some minor (seemed major at the time, lol..) freak outs, but nothing resembling the hell that was my life before adding Lamictal...

My anxiety has definitely improved...and my thoughts are much more organized, however it took some more tweaking of my AD (Celexa) before i saw a drastic improvement in obsessive like thought patterns that caused me a lot of grief...

Stuff like being unhealthy obsessed with how other people acted at the office, running something i said that was embarrassing over and over through my head, or worrying about whether i will have enough money when i retire 40 years from now...

That may have been more info than you wanted... but i certainly think the symptoms you listed have improved with Lamictal in my repertoire of meds

Peace

Hello December15

Welcome to Psycho-Babble!

Wow, that sounds like an awful reaction. I wonder what causes that and I wonder if other people get that too?

Mouth sores are listed as a side effect in the PDR; of course the doctor said he'd never heard of anyone having that reaction before.
