myoclonus (muscle twitches) after buspirone

Posted by stabilium on January 17, 2010, at 12:48:40

I started a new med 10 days ago. Its already working very well for my anxiety. The onyl side effect is myoclonus! Is there anybody who experienced this side effect? Does ist go away? What about tardive dyskinesia related to buspirone? There are some cases in the literature reporting a possible relationship between TD occurance and buspirone treatment. Couldnt find anything about myoclonus and buspirone, bur im sure its from buspar because lowering the dose from 15 to 10 mg/d improves myoclonus but makes anxiety worse!!

I got the same effect from buspar and finally discontinued it due to concerns of TD. Don't know if TD would have ever manifested, but buspar wasn't helping my anxiety much, so why bother?

I got increased myclonus from wellbutrin but didn't worry about it too much since I read that it's pretty normal for people to experience it every once in a while when on the brink of sleep. (In other words, I got the impression that it's not pathological.)
