I am discontinuing Cymbalta after daily use since late August. It was rx'ed to me as an anti anxiety as I was detoxing from klonopin (finally!). I also take adderall. Should I keep on taking this? My systolic blood pressure is dropping 10-20 but my diastolic is staying the same. My heart rate remains high 80s low 90s. I basically took around half the dose the past 4 days and I see how long I can go until taking it. I took it last night around 6 or 7. I am having flu-like symptoms and all that..

Strange we all react so differently as when on 60mg of cymbalta cut dose in half no side effects at all with benzos on board. Can you add a bit back in and lower the taper? Phillipa

If Cymbalta is anything like it's cousins Effexor and Pristiq (which I think it should be since it's also an SSNRI), withdrawal is harder than with other antidepressants. I've been through both effexor and pristiq withdrawal and both were really really hard. With the effexor, I decreased in tiny steps at a time, even went from the XR to the regular tablets so I could cut them. You'll hear people on this site tell you to gradually taper about 10% at a time. It's annoying to take so long but the withdrawal symptoms make it worth doing, and they are hell. The way I withdrew from Pristiq if you're in more of a hurry is to switch to another antidepressant (I used Lexapro). Then you can taper something like that down more quickly with fewer side effects than the SSNRIs, which are famous for withdrawal. Either way, it's better than trying to cold turkey the Cymbalta.

I have no idea. Maybe it's just that your body works differently than most people's.

One time when had my third child who is 36 now was given two seconals in false labor and didn't sleep. And when she came home coldturkeyed valium, alchohol, and playcidyl which was prescribed for me. That time felt like walking on a rocking ship and lay on the couch for two weeks but no seizure as they said would happen if stopped at meds. I think I'm Alien???? Phillipa
