As some may already know here, I like to work out and stay physically active as much as possible. If I take Nortriptyline should I worry about any cardiovascular side effects?
My current symptoms are: depression, anxiety, periodic severe fatigue, unable to concentrate at times, hangover-like headaches, and overall feeling like my brain is locking up on me and not allowing me to feel normal.
Current meds:
Zoloft 100mg
Depakote 1000mg

I am actually pretty severely depressed at times. I also have a VERY tight chest and I have not had the same cardiovascular stamina that I am used to having. I just feel absolutely horrible some days. Some days I feel good half the day and then I hit this wall and feel like a pile of sh*t. I fear the days of sleeping well and having consistent energy may be over. I also feel nauseated at times. This sucks, especially since I thought I was really making some progress in the last week or two. I feel pretty bad off meds so I don't necessarily think all of what I feel is due to my medications, though some of it may be.
Also, can Nortriptyline improve cognition?

I took nortriptyline up to 50mg. I did not have cardiac side effects at this dose and I am *very* sensitive to cardiac side effects of medications.

Good to hear. Did you like Nortriptyline? I'm assuming you are not on it now. If not, can you tell me what made you want to come off it?

I wouldn't worry about the cardiovascular effects. I'm on nortriptyline and have not had any problems. I have had a heart attack and cardiac arrest in the past from my anorexia (was not taking nortriptyline at the time) and my pdoc didn't mind prescribing it for me even though he knew my history.
To make you feel better, perhaps you could get an EKG and then get another one after a few months on Nortriptyline. Perhaps that would ease your mind a bit.
