Benzo's and mood - Xanax

Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on December 20, 2009, at 16:24:51

I've just noticed the best is with Xanax, Ativan is more for mood stablization, and Klonopin is depressing.

Anyone notice anything?

Actualy it would be more like this,...Ativan first line, mild, lessor of the benzo crew, klonopin for gad,all day long anxiety,as well as mood stablization.Xanax is for immediate relieaf for hard core anxiety needing reliaf etc.

All of them ca be depressing when taken alone, they are cns depressants, and each person has the fav one and one that they find most depressing.

Interesting I feel my chemistry has changed a lot. I get right to sleep on xanax but find the long acting benzos now seem to actually depress me and the nightmares lately having horrendous!!! Phillipa

This is an interesting subject, and something I have wondered about. It's especially interesting that your benzo preference is so different than mine. I find that Klonopin gives me an initial mood lift, and is the most tolerable of the longer-acting benzos for me. Xanax and Valium induce in me a state of bored emptiness that is very unpleasant. I have never tried Ativan, but for some reason, I think I might like it.

I wonder what it is about someone that determines which benzos make them feel better, and which ones make them feel worse.

Xanax supposedly has a slight antidepressant feel so that could factor in? Different people, different times in life, hormones changing Love Phillipa

Xanax I just know doesnt cause depression, Klonoopin does cause depression at higher doses..yet that's really on the person's biochemistry.

Ativan...doesnt really effect the mood much with me.

thanks!
