Here I go again. New doctor. This time we're going with:
Lithium (900mg)
Lamictal (25mg)
Klonopin (.5 x3 daily)
Deplin 7.5mg
Seroquel (100mg for sleep)I've been on everything but the Deplin. So I guess I'm really hopeful that'll put my head in a good space. I've heard some really great things and some people saying it doesn't do anything. Lamictal was my med of choice for the past 2 years (150mg) but I wasn't very motivated so hopefully I'm trying to use as little of it as possible.
Anyone have success w/ Deplin or other suggestions?
I'm coming off one of my worst psychotic manic episodes. I was taking Lamictal (150mg) until July when I decided after two years of sitting at my parents house doing nothing that it was time to try to make a change. I have a degree from McGill but I've been wasting the last 8 years dealing w/ depression and occational mania. So in July I took a chance w/ a new doctor who said I probably have ADHD (which I've heard before) and he gave me Ritalin along w/ Neurontin. Bad combo for me aparently....
Anyway if anyone has any good news about Deplin or this combo I could use some optimism.

I did try Deplin when new but experienced nothing. There was a poster here that did very well on Deplin. Hope he sees this Phillipa

I know who you're talking about. Hope he's still doing well on it. Forget the name but I searched the board for Deplin last week....

I would do 150 to 300 mg of Seroquel XR and ditch the Klonopin.
By managing trimonoamine neurotransmitter synthesis, L-methylfolate (Deplin), when taken with antidepressants, improves benefits. I don't know if it will augment your Lithium therapy.

So far I'm just kinda blah w/ this combo. I was afraid Lithium would make me feel kinda flat like it had when I used it for 8months or so before. Can't say the Deplin has really helped - but I did have some odd dreams last night (which i've heard that can contribute to).
I dunno - kinda have that here we go again feeling and can't say I'm super optimistic w/ this combo.....
I see this new doc again in 9 days so perhaps we'll tweak it a bit....
At least I'm not crazy in hell like I was about 3 weeks ago. (feeling like other people - uncontrollable akathesia - crying fits - real bad).....

Yeah, I would ditch the Lamictal, it's not going to do anything for you at that dose. No sense in taking any med that isn't needed, could be contributing to the 'blah' feeling.
What about taking only 2 klonopin a day?
I'll be interested in hearing more about your experience with Deplin.

> herpillsWell I actually ended up changing back to my old doctor (even though he tends to overmedicate and he's gotten me manic before). But I was really depressed last week and wasn't particularly happy with the course the new doc wanted to go.
So anyway my old(current) doc raised the lamictal. Back up to 100mg (25mg increases every 3 days since I've been on it before). And I begged for Parnate so he started me at a really low dose of 10mg of that.
He kept me on the Klonopin but I've just stopped taking it. I know some people love it but I couldn't really tell a difference and if anything it could have been adding to my depression. I've taken one at night the last few nights (.5) to stave off any possible w/d effects. That's down from 3....
Thus I'm on:
Lamictal 75mg (100 in 2 days)
Lithium 900mg
Deplin 7.5mg
Parnate 10mg
Seroquel 100mg (essentially for sleep)Feeling MUCH better this week. Just need to make sure the parnate doesn't spin me off into psychotic mania where sadly I have the ability to go.
Seeing the doc again on 12/30 (week from today) and I think we'll probably raise the Parnate a bit - but that should be it. Really hoping to just get a "cocktail" that works and I can believe in. I've read a lot about Parnate around here so I'm very optimistic.
As for Deplin. He was kinda like it can hurt so stay on it. Perhaps that's finally kicking in as well. Either feeling much much better. The crazy dreams I was having w/ Deplin (I think it was Deplin causing them - slight chance it was the lithium) have finally abated.
