Hi gang,
I am preparing to discontinue both my benzo and my AD...and I was looking for some advice and experience on who has had success, and which should be tapered first?
I have not started yet...which is why I am starting this post/question on The Medication Thread.
I am currently on 50mg's Pristiq
100mgs Trazadone( bedtime)
.25mgs of Librium
I REALLY want to try and stop my Med's.Any advice would be appreciated

>First of all, are you really taking 0.25mg of Librium? I think you either got the dosage or the name wrong. I would start with Pristiq, then the benzo and Trazodone last so you get to sleep. But this is to be done with your pdocs knowledge.

I like the idea of the Trazadone last for sleep....I know from previous attempts at tapering that it puts a huge strain on the CNS.Thanks for the advice Tensor

I've just not heard of discontuation syndrom with trazadone and not that good as an ad. Wouldn't the librium get you to sleep seeing it's 25mg? Phillipa

Good point....and yes you are right, trazadone was precribed for me for an "off-label" use..namely insomnia. It's AD effects are minimal.
Unfortunately my research shows that it will be difficult to discontinue since I have been on it for a couple of years now...but certainly not as tough as pristiq! And yes, I could increase my Librium for sleep, while going thriugh the withdrawl from trazadone.
Thanks Phillipa
