taurine=insomnia?

Posted by rovers95 on November 22, 2009, at 16:09:11

Hi, hope everyone is ok. I was suffering with insomnia but this has gradually improved over the last couple of weeks, however i started taking taurine on weds and this has been great in terms of improving my functioning...making me feel more calm etc. However, i noticed this is making me an extremely light sleeper. I gave up on Friday, however, friday and sat night my insomnia remained and i slept about 4 hours both nights.

Oddly, i stil feel better on the taurine-just very tired now! should it b out my system now, cant find any info on taurines half-life..does anyone know?

Also, was wondering if taurines calming effects may last after the insomnia dissipates - perhaps through correction of electrolyte imbalances?

thanks

I like Taurine, however it does give me insomnia

Its calming rather than sedating if that makes sense

Yeah, that is my thinking as well, at least i know its always there if things get out of hand. I slept good last night but without the taurine everything else is worse...mood, anxiety, irritability.

Is there anyway to avoid the insomnia? Perhaps take half a tab (250mg) a day or even every other day?
