Have any of you taken Lamictal/Gabapentin/valproic acid, had cognitive side effects when starting, and had them go away later?

Personally speaking.....
Lamictal gave me cognitive side effects from the get go and those have never gone away (5 years on it)
I personally never had any cognitive impairment on Gabapentin at all , even at 3600mg a day.

Unfortunately, my experience with Lamictal mirrors yours. It really angers me because I am using it to treat an illness where cognitive slowing and memory impairments already exist. I currently take 200mg.
Some people react badly to gabapentin such that it produces significant "brain fog". For most people, though, it seems to be a relatively clean drug with respect to cognitive side effects.
I did not experience any cognitive impairment or brain fog with valproate.

Yes, all three did. They didn't go away for me so I had to try something else. But they can go away I think.

Humm I took lamictal four weeks at 50mg none for me just the continuous splitting. Noticed nothing else does that mean I'm immune to meds? Phillipa

I noticed sleepiness and intermittent fog on valproic acid which enough coffee would push aside--but I was younger then and now no longer tolerate coffee.
