Here is a snip from wikipedia on pristiq,im sure anyone wanting to verfiy it knows how to access wikipedia.I just want to add my comments with the snip.
-- Desvenlafaxine is a novel form of the isolated major active metabolite of venlafaxine, and is categorized as a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It works by blocking the transporter "reuptake" proteins for key neurotransmitters affecting mood, thereby leaving more active neurotransmitters in the synapse. The neurotransmitters affected are serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) and norepinephrine
(noradrenaline)."It is approximately 10-fold more potent at inhibiting serotonin uptake than norepinephrine uptake."
WOW so the fact of it being a ssNri doesent seem as exciting, new, and different when this statement makes it sound more like a lightly enhanced ssri.
"[5] When most normal metabolizers take venlafaxine - 70% of the benefit comes from venlafaxine being metabolized into desvenlafaxine so the effects are very similar.[6]"
Ok so what im getting from this is users of effxer are going to actualy end up with the same effect,or very close to the same effect of the HIGHLY TOUTED AND NEW PRISTIQ?
This wouldent be so bad actualy if,
1.Effexor is now generic, and finaly affordable.
2.Pristiq is brand new,patented,EXTREMLY EXPENSIVE
3.Cases are reported where docs are taking patients off effexor and putting them on pristiq with claims of a new drug safer and more effective.

I found the side-effects of pristiq much less than effexor.
I could not stand 150mg effexor xr. 50mg pristiq was no problem.
Also, I noticed less weirdness when combining pristiq with other drugs.
But, that was me.
Also, I believe pristiq is cheaper than brand-name effexor. Is generic effexor any good? I do not know.
effexor/pristiq don;t seem to be the drug for me, though.

Pristiq side effects definitely more begin. Still not effective enough for me, but neither was effexor. However, effexor was more energizing--good for me, not so good for others.
