First Bleaberry, you got me spot on with the 2 much seratonin. the p doc said good to drop from 150mg to 100.sertraline.An my jiont pain has calmed from the drop. again a possible side effect said the doc.now this is where it gets messy. I said how about lexapro to see if we can nuke the side effects. He said lets have a look in the NHS book i have to go by guild lines.oooooops brian thats a no sorry we price the best genetic meds from the bunch, most are sh*t so we narrow it down,We have an approach simular to a wine, if you had the choise would you have a £3 bottle or a £50 one, rather like setraline £20 an zoloft£50 get me.I said cool doc but spit it out,he said you get the medium range an that dont cover lexapro. 28 sertraline medium quality £1 50 28 lexapro same quality £28.thats how they do it. he said you have an improvement on the 100mg so we stick with it a while.so i said what about agomelatine, he said what? if its not in my book you dont get it.So he looks in the book, no its not hear are you sure there is a med,i said do you mind if use you computer. He said no brian, an looks over my shoulder, while i punch in ago, he said your right but i have never heard of it an it sure aint in my book.i can imagine how much that will cost the nhs as its still under pattent.I said what about my side effects, he said you just told me they were a little better since the 50mg drop.i said im still getting a fat bleeder , he said sorry swings an roundabouts, oooooo an what about my sex life. he said viagra. i said the gp wouldnt free script me so i told him to stick it. the p doc said he did wwwwhat , leave it with me brian i will sort him out hear a green script for free viagra.i dont really need it but i took it an the gp is in for a roasting, Just another mad day in the life of mannic .i got nowhere but it was kind of fun in a wierd way

Maniac--this was fun to read--the way you tell your story and your humor in the face of absurdity and our crazy human ways (and dysfunctional health systems).
Glad to hear that your pain is diminishing!

There are thousands of similar examples as yours in every single country that has a medical system provided by government. Limited doctors, limited medication choices, long wait lists, slow access, rationing. No matter how good the promises are, no matter how good is sounds, it only turns out that way for a minority of patients...the easy ones. Ya know, it's hard enough to treat diseases when you have complete freedom. How much more progress is hindered when that freedom is gone. My feelings on that.
I am glad the reduction in zoloft dose helped somewhat. I could be wrong, but the aim might be to get some norepinephrine/dopamine mechanisms piggybacked on it. Reboxetine, nortriptyline, desipramine, ritalin, tyrosine, dl-phenylalanine, or indirectly via licorice root extract or ginkgo biloba. Just some starter ideas. I don't think shopping around in the SSRI category is going to get you much more than you've already seen with zoloft. Obviously this is an extremely inexact science, well, not even a science at all, purely experimental, so I could be wrong.

Problem is in his country one med of a category like ad's to a customer so to speak. I fear our own country will soon be the same too. Phillipa

the p.doc is a nice guy , we even do the gangster hand shake.but he is clueless, But think on what he says, all you guys searching out the cheapest meds,is dangerouse.Like i said the NHS gets all the cenerics of a med an test them for the cheapest best one, they dont give you the no score meds.you get one that works an is cheap, but it wont kill you. if 1 is still covered by its pattent for 5 years forget it till it has been generict. they wont pay for a rip off as the p doc said, but this is a new thing as i used to get prozac when fluxidine came on the scene, i refused point plank to have flux an it did not work like prozac,i ask a chemist why he had given me flux instead of prozac, an he said prozac is£15 more a box. i took my script back to the gp who gave a new script that said prozac.an gave the chemist . i swear smoke was commeing out is ears as i laughed in his face , anyway dont you guys go to cheap on the cenerics its bad move , an meds could be different from box to box. think on.

Yes Maniac, My plan here in the states covers generics--I pay extra for brand. If I don't look at each scrip dispensed by my pharmacy, they can and will substitute ANY generic. I had this problem w/ my thyroid med. Before I became hip to this, I had been given three different types of thyroid! (Because once I accept my scrip and leave the pharmacy,, I can't bring it back!)
However, your situation seems more difficult than here--llike the wine list analogy you mention.

hey i have said before, i wont take white setraline, zoloft is yellow so i want yellow. my wife brought the white from a different chemist. i took them back. an she said im not the only one who has done this. she did take back the white med an gave me back my script .so of i went to get my yellow ones, something like that can cause a rise in anxierty for me ,like i once went on holiday in england, an i only took ativan then an only when needed,so sometimes weeks with none.you already guessed whats comming up. YES i forgot to take them with me.my anxierty went to melt down an i had to see the holiday centre doctor who gave me 10 ativan. Do you no i only took 1 of the 10 on holiday,I didnt need them ,but the thought of not haveing any nuked me.
