I know that Tegretol is used as a mood stabilizer, but does anyone know if it helps with depression?

Here's the thing. All anticonvulsants can cause depression, but Tegretol has a structure similar to tricyclic antidepressants and has been shown to be effective in treating the depressive symptoms of bipolar disorder.
50/50 chance it will help with depression...maybe?

This is great when augmenting a stimulant drug, however when used alone,as in MONOTHERAPY as docs now want bi polar people to do,i agree with you the cloud of depression from constant sedative effect can definatly intensify depression and overall zombie,i dont have a brain state.
I see this new theory out now that docs want to take away anti depressants from bipolar people and use just mood stablizers,in fact i had my parnate YANKED from me with no taper in the hospital, luckly a friend snuck some in,but i had to change my doc on the outside as well as he said he had to do what the hospital demanded, luckly i did,id go nuts on a sedative alone.I wish you luck, however to be honest tegatrol doesent have much history alone as a antidepressant,if anything lamictal also a mood stablizer is said to have some anti depressant effect,as well as zyprexa.

Two to three doses of 1200 mg. Almost seems like dopamine has been activated.

Gabpentin at high doses has been noted to have some mood elevating effects, problem however is at that dose range it will carry a nasty rebound,if your still on it glad to hear and becareful, not sure if you were speaking of current time.
