Hello.
I m a 31 years old man, diagnosed with BPD (borderline, not bipolar) 9 years ago. I've been on Paxil 20 and Sulpiride 50 the whole time, until this summer, when due to a stressful event, I had to raise the dosage to 60 mg Paxil and 150 mg Sulpiride.
2 weeks after, i was hospitalised in my origin country, Romania (I wanted to change my medication as I considered the dosage too high) and the doctor put me on Zyprexa 5mg, Clonazepam 0.5mg and Sodium valproate 500mg.
I felt good during the hospitalisation (2 weeks) and the next month - sharp, motivated, not depressed, just a little irritable. Then I started to feel occasionally depressed. After 7-10 days, the depression has generalised and I had to see a pdoc here in Spain. This one replaced the Clonazepam with Paxil 20mg. So, today it s my 4th day back on seroxat and I still feel very depressed and anxious.
I can't go to a psychotherapist as I don't speak Spanish well enough and I was wondering if online therapy (I found a romanian therapist which uses voice messenger) would do me any good.
I m currently unemployed and financially dependent on my parents and girlfriend.I appreciate any suggestions.

Did you stop the clonazepam immediately? And did you start at 20mg paroxetine? Either of those can make you feel bad (though usually it's agitation you get).
Online therapy can't hurt.
Good luck.

Hi,
Sorry you are not feeling too good. I am just trying to understand your regime:So in hospital you were on:
Zyprexa 5mg,
Clonazepam 0.5mg
Sodium valproate 500mg.
No Paxil, right? And then you were fine for a month.
Then your pdoc:
Removed the clonazepam 0.5mg
Replaced it with Paxil 20 mg instead
But he left everything else alone, right?I'm just trying to understand so that I don't say anything too dumb..
I'm not sure what is happening but I can say that;
If your doctor removed you from the clonazepam quickly then that itself can explain the increased anxiety.
I assume he re-added the Paxil for depression (and also for underlying anxiety) but it will take time to work (maybe 2 weeks at the least)While you are waiting it out you can definitely try online therapy. (hopefully she is not too expensive)
You always have the option of posting here or if you want on the psychology board for support in the interim. I have never been there myself but this is the link: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/psycho/Are you looking out for some BPD support groups? Or only a personal therapist.
I hope something helps and do report on how you are feeling
Take care
With love
D

Yes, Delna, that was exactly my regime.
I really hope u re right (with the paxil "lag"). Otherwise, it's a long wait until triple reuptake inhibitors will hit the market :)

You might try going off the clonazepam gradually and adding the paroxetine gradually. Maybe 20mg is too much.
This is the end of the thread.
