I am on Lyrica for the past one year or more. It really has a mood brightening effect and if I go over 600mg, I get the effects which some people describe as ecstatic.
But the problem now is, I can not stop this medication. Not because I am having any physical withdrawal symptoms, but if I dont take the med, I am depressed with zero motivation.
I dont take any other meds now though I was on SSRIs for quite a long time prior to Lyrica. Now, this highly expensive med is the only thing that keeps me going. When I stop, I can only stay in my apartment without any motivation to do anything or even to step out of the house.
I am a laid-off worker and the cost of Lyrica sucks. I wish to get rid off this burden. Is there any other med which will be motivating like Lyrica is, but less expensive than this?

If I had a med that let me feel that well somehow I'd manage to continue. Do you qualify for needy med programs? Is neurotin like lyrica? Phillipa

Neurontin is a joke compared to Lyrica. I can take over 1g of Neurontin and become a dumb moron. But on that much dosage of Lyrica, I will be floating in heaven like an angel...
Ghosh.. Lyrica is great but unfortunately, the effects do not last. A day or two, you will become tolerant to it's euophoriant effects. But I think the mood brightening effects sustain.

tolerance builds to Lyrica quite quickly.
I had a pleasnt drunk feeling in the beginning. But that fades quickly. Then I got the pleasant calm and composed feelings. But those also fade in a matter of many weeks or months. I wonder whether it could be used as an on needed basis.
