...and I just read it coincidentally. Also provides -rational- measures for tick-born diseases, of which Lyme is not the only one, merely the most commonly heard. Concentration maps of diseases and ranges of species that cause different diseases are given.

Lyme is, as suspected, found in the highest stages where it was originally found, stretching from bos-wash through CT (Lyme, CT) up to part of Maine. A slight concentration in the Madison-Chicago area. All consistent with climate.

And doxycycline, yes is most associated with the use for tick-borne diseases that can be treated with antibiotics, but the maximum stated is about a month, not years which could lead to serious complications.

Certain antibiotics, such as erythromycin, vancomycin, and the quinines for malaria are noted for oto-toxicity. That is, they can cause substantial deafness while on them, or permanently, as some cases have been known.

But yes, it is a reasonable presentation.

Just throwing in my 2c.

"Under Our Skin" An Infectious New Film About Microbes, Money & Medicine" A film by Andy Abrahams Wilson. www.underourskin.com

My sister just sent me this CD. She lives in Maryland and has been sick for many years. It is excellent! She says it will be in theatres etc. I don't know, but if you are interested in Lyme it is the best documentary I've seen.

Phillipa, that's a difficult question to answer. She's been sick for a LONG time, maybe 20 years, and she's been to so many doctors. I think she considers herself to have Chronic Fatigue. But she studies all those mysterious diseases and has a tremendous amount of knowledge about them.. Her biggest symptom is fatigue but she has never been depressed. My worst symptom is fatigue also, but I have always had lots of anxiety and depression. I think we both might have some inherited mitochondrial malfunctions?? Hard to say. But isn't that documentary superb! I was surprised it was so well done!

You're not weird, Jan.

Yes, it was good to see an infectious disease doctor's comment on Lyme. Lots of things linger in the body, like the example of mononucleosis, but that doesn't necessarily mean the causation of the syndrome is there any more.

The system may be overtaxed for quite a while afterward independent of any foreign element, an autoimmune-like condition may follow these types of infections for some time.
