Sorry this is happening to you. I think you should let your pdoc know either for reassurance or he may think another med is a better choice for you. Please keep posting. Love Phillipa

I'm so sorry you're having rotten side effects. Has your anxiety skyrocketed? If so, I would call your doc asap. I can handle the more physical side effects, nausea, hot flashes..but anything that makes me want to crawl out of my skin..no thanks! Hope you feel better soon.

No interactions with Magnesium i'm finding....magnesium calms some nerves, but it's not known for it. The vitamin/mineral section should have it in stores. Take care....

Here is something you might want to read, new medications, new issues.

How is it going today? When I first started pristiq I felt wired and was really afraid I was going to get agitated since that's what had happened with effexor. The early feelings pasted, as they often do. I had a pdoc who used to email me back "stay the course" so often it made me crazy. Some of the time she was wrong. Some of the time she was right. I would check in with your doc but without going through the adjustment period there's no way of knowing how the med is going to work in the long run.
Hope you're feeling better.Zana

Well, I'm off pristiq now. Sigh. Another one bites the dust.
As the day went on the side effects got worse. In no particular order:
1. Flushing -- my ears felt like they were burning, my urogenital "area" (yes, embarrassing) felt like it was burning (and I had pain on urinating all day and night)
2. Exacerbation of fibromyalgia symptoms. My hands were stiff and ached, as well as different parts of my body.
3. Wired, quite wired, and spacey.
4. Itching. My hands and arms itched.
5. Nausea. Wanting to throw up. Did not throw up, though (bonus).
6. Even with Trazodone and Ativan, woke up every 2 hours, exactly 2 hours, on the hour, all night.
The flushing--esp. of certain, ahem, "areas"--was just too much. The itching too. Any one of these side effects, in isolation, or even any two or three of these, may have been something I could push through, but all of them at once, and esp. the exacerbation of fibro pain, was too much.
My sweet psychiatrist. She said, on the phone this morning, "sorry." Awwww. So, I see her tomorrow and we start back at square one.
THANK YOU all to your wonderful support, encouragement, and care. XOXO

Amelia,
Just read another thread about Savella (Ihatedrugs). Sounds good to me--just a thought (worth the usual two cents!). Good luck at square one. Glad you have a sympathetic pdoc. Sounds like you made a good decision.
