Drugs that work well with Nortriptyline

Posted by tonyz on May 27, 2009, at 12:37:09

Going through a major depressive episode now. Ramping up on the Nortriptyline 25mg every 3 days - will go up to 150 tonight. Based on past experiences my gut tells me that this is not going to do it. Doc has added Seroquel but I don't like this drug. Also taking 20mg of diazepam for sleep which I don't like either. Oh and 10-20mg of Sonota which has little effect.

Been on the Seroquel for about 4 days starting at 50 and going up to 200 last night. I don't want to take Seroquel.

I am wondering what other antidepressants have worked well for others in combination with Nortriptyline. There is a lot of anxiety associated with my depression so I can't take anything that would have an activating effect.

I'm sorry personally seems no meds do a thing for depression but still on the valium does more than the others for me. Good luck seriously. Phillipa sure that others will have some great ideas for you.

Dr. Gillman believes nortriptyline/zoloft work good together. I think he mentions the 2 somewhere in this finding.

Thanks everyone, I will discuss the Zoloft option with my doc. I'm not sure it will be a good combination for me since Zoloft can be activating, but at least it is another option. Thanks again for replying.

i don't know what you've tried, but there are less activating ssris, like luvox or paxil.
