My Nurse practitioner said I could stop 50mg Pristiq cold turkey and up my dosage of 5 htp from 50 to 100mg.
Not that I want to ignore medical advice, but I'm worried that withdrawal will be hell. Does anyone have experience and/or something to suggest to the Nurse Prac. about this?

I quit Pristiq cold turkey without a problem, but that's me. I just don't seem to suffer discontinuation problems.

You folks are very fortunate.
I do have get bad discontinuation from stopping ADs though.
Is there anyone who normally DOES get withdrawal from ADs but has found a way to successfully quit Pristiq (50 mg) without having it be too bad?

I'm currently on 50 mg of Pristiq. When I accidentally skip a dose, I know because I start to feel sick. Getting off Effexor once kicked my butt--for a long time. Don't know what to expect from Pristiq in terms of length of time of discomfort. I just don't expect withdrawal (for me) to be too easy. (Not that I am discontinuing--see above thread!)

P.S. I withdrew from Lexapro with prozac--w/ my pdoc. That was easier.

I've been on pristiq for about 7 weeks and it seems to be helping me. May I ask why you are quitting it?
