Was asking to see if anyone here is taking celexa and what there experience has been. I know that initial side effects aren't pleasant, but couldn't be any worse of an experience than I have been through lately.
When looking at other reviews, it seems to have a pretty good success rate for my particular issues. I have learned through great trial and error, I will have to start out at a very low dose, (probably 5mgs and work up) Since my prob seems to be more of an general anxiety, agoraphobia and panic issue with mild depressions, was looking at this one since I seem to have had alot of trouble with past ssri's and nardil just about whiped me off the face of the earth.
And for those who have taken it, do you feel better taking it in the morning, evening or night?
Also, do you think there is a difference between the actions of generic vs. brand? When I googled it, couldn't seem to find a difference.
Thanks,
Courtney

My dad takes Celexa because his insurance won't cover Lexapro anymore. I think it has basically the same side effects as Lexapro--possible sleepiness, insomnia, weight gain or loss, tremors, nausea. You might have to titrate up to a much higher dose to see its effectiveness, though.

Courtney,
Celexa wasn't enough for me and gave me brain fog, though at the time I did not take it in combination. I did do much better on Lexapro (I found it more stimulating).
Sorry Nardil was such a wipeout.

I had realy good success with celexa for 7 years. I didn't realy have any side effects. The only one I remember is having anxiety when I stoped the zyprexa I was taking at the same time. This means that celexa either did nothing for anxiety or made it worse. Never tried to figger out which, and went back on zyprexa. I didn't notice much of a difference between the generic and brand. All the generics basicly may have been a little milder, but generaly the same effect. Celexa was not sedating or energising, also no weight gain. Generaly a pleasant effect from day one. If you are having problems you might try a different med.

I was just going to post and ask for experiences on Celexa. I've been on 20 mg for five weeks (went from 10 mg to 20 mg after one week) and I have such problems with anxiety. I'm OK for a few hours in the morning when I take it, but the anxiety starts ramping up at about noon and is in overdrive by 2. I take Lyrica (150 mg/day) and Klonopin as needed, and yesterday, for example, I needed my regular dose of Lyrica and 1.0 mg of Klonpin to calm down. That knocks me out, which isn't the way to function. I lose the afternoon.
The anxiety just spirals out of control after a few hours.
Any ideas, anyone? I see my pdoc this afternoon.

I take provigil with klonopin. The provigil gives me energy; the klonopin keeps me from being over-stimulated or anxious on the provigil. Don't know if you want to try the speed ball approach but it works pretty well for me.

> ZanaI'm curious. Would you mind sharing just how long your 'speedball' approach has worked? I'm working with one myself and wondering how wise that may be in the long run. Though I hate to give up what is presently working.
Thanks,
