My family physician wants to start a low dose of Provigil to help with daytime fatigue. Has anyone in this forum used it for that. Will it make me jittery? Also does it help with weight loss? I hope it does help with weight loss and not cause any more weight gain. I think I am getting to the point where I can audition for the Biggest Loser and be selected. Arghhhhh!

Weigh gain eh...Let me guess , Remeron, Zyprexa, maybe Depakote.
I never noticed any weight loss with Provigil but as usual your mileage may vary.
I did improve my powers of concentration dramatically though. I could work for 8-10 hours straight and I have an intellectually demanding job.
Jitteriness, not really. But when I was already stressed (like getting in trouble at work) it amplified that stress.

I take 100mgs of Provigil in the am and another 100 around 2. I take both doses with klonopin and 300mgs of gabapentin. It doesn't make me exactly jittery, and to tell you the truth I haven't tried the Provigil without them in ages. But coming down from Provigil can be nasty. I used to get irritable, very, and weepy. With the klonopin and gabapentin I no longer have any problem with it. It has a short half life, seven hours or so. I think, however, that it is a good med, at least for me. It definitely gives me energy and brightens my mood. I'd give it a try and see if you feel you need to tweeq it. Start low, like maybe 50mgs that way you'll get a sense of how you react to it. It should kill your appetite if you're anything like me.

I used to take provigil for fatigue. I stopped b/c it didn't make a noticable difference. On the up side though, I didn't notice any side effects.
I don't think weight loss is a typical side effect. I certainly didn't have any.
What other meds do you take so that you need an anti-fatigue med? Is it possible to alter or cut down on any of those?
Best,
EE

Well I'm sure Klonopin and Ambien contribute to my fatigue but I believe the main culprit may be the Lipitor.
I am feeling a little better without it. So maybe taking Provigil can be put on hold for a while.ihatedrugs

hm fatigue? i missed that.
CoQ10 is helpful for muscular fatigue, statins inhibit natural production of it.
i never read any past that can't speak to other uses
