Effexor Side Effects Report #5656705-8
Health Professional from SWITZERLAND reported EFFEXOR problem on Mar 03, 2008. Female patient, 37 years of age, was diagnosed with depression and was treated with EFFEXOR. After drug was administered, patient experienced the following problems/side effects: tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, . EFFEXOR dosage: 150 + 300 MG PER DAY. During the same period patient was treated with SURMONTIL, SEROQUEL. Patient died on 10/05/2006

Jeroen so what do you feel it means? Release date is 2008 and patient died in 2006. What other conditions of health did she have? Any addition info. Love Phillipa

she died of the effexor thats what it sais :(

That's the issue with a lot of these post-marketing adverse events - they often don't seem to list other drugs taken or pre-existing conditions.

If such an even occurred in someone who was not taking Effexor, would you conclude that it was caused by not taking Effexor?
I hope not. But that argument cuts both ways.
There is not causative link shown here. There is coincidence. But you cannot generalize from this incident, nor establish any sort of a pattern from one data point.

thats a humongous dose of venlafaxine for one thing.. yes it does cause heart problems but rarely and not that severely most of the time... plus it has been given together with a TCA !!!!!! wheres the sense in that.. responsible prescribing could have prevented his death
