Hi cee - I'm on 200mg for anxiety/depression. Also on lithium and Zoloft. The Seroquel had an effect on me the first night I took it. I felt drugged for about 24 hours. Very strange. Then for about 3 or 4 weeks, it would just make me tired. Which was a good thing for me. I guess it was just my brain adjusting to it. Now I really don't have any reaction to it, other than I expect it is helping with my anxiety. This particular combo of the 3 meds took about 4 weeks for me to really help my symptoms.

Not bipolar. Anxiety that stops my life then pushes me into depression. Other than that little issue, I'm great.

Hi Jeroen.
Regarding Seroquel, you wrote:

Will you be continuing with Invega at the same time? If not, why not?
A friend of mine has needed to take Seroquel 800mg for a case of psychotic bipolar depression with paranoia. She also takes Abilify 30mg. She is to ask her doctor about lowering the Abilify. I will let you know if her reducing the dosage of Abilify allows her to take *less* Seroquel. I am becoming increasingly suspicious that, for some people, Abilify might be acting against the therapeutic activity of other neuroleptics.

I guess that leaves you in the difficult position of having to find an effective medication before you can try to discontinue the Abilify. Of course, the paradox is that there might be no medication that will be able to get past the DA receptor agonist actions of Abilify and demonstrate a therapeutic benefit. I would go with the high dosage of Seroquel and begin to taper the Abilify if the Seroquel is even moderately effective. Removing the Abilify will be an experiment. In actuality, it might be that you can then justify combining the Seroquel with moderate dosages of either Risperdal or Invega if you feel that Seroquel alone is inadequate.
I know, I know...
I am pushing a certain drug combination for you to try. In real life, I have seen 3mg of Risperdal work magic when combined with low dosages of Seroquel. If I hadn't witnessed this for myself, I would not recommend the treatment so strongly.

did you mean 3 mg of Risperdal or 3 mg of Invega?

As far as I am concerned, I think using either drug in combination with Seroquel would work. It seems that the two drugs are about the same with regard to dosage ranges. Therefore, you might do very well with either drug at a dosage of 3.0mg were you to combine them with Seroquel. Without Seroquel, you probably would be placed on 6.0mg.
