Residential treatment programs that offer ECT

Posted by uncouth on April 28, 2009, at 20:19:37

Hi, does anyone know of any residential treatment programs (like, 4-6 week programs) that specialize in DEPRESSION (not substance abuse), and that also offer ECT onsite?

Any pointers would be dearly appreciated.
Alex

This doesn't fit your criteria exactly, but it may be an option for you. I hope you get other replies that may be more helpful. Menninger Clinic's Hope program came to mind. I haven't been to it, but had looked into it. I was thinking it was 4-6 weeks, but when I looked at the website now, it says 6-8 weeks. I also did a search using their name and ECT, and it looks like they used to do ECT onsite, but now the info. says "In cases where many medications, combinations of medications, and adjunctive medications have not been helpful, we may recommend and coordinate referral for Electro-convulsive Therapy (ECT)."
They take patients who just have depression, but people w/ other diagnoses (including psychological problems combined with substance abuse) with be in the program as well.
Their reputation is, unfortunately, that most patients either have excellent insurance coverage or are independently wealthy to be able to afford going there. Menninger's used to be located in Topeka, Kansas, but moved about 6 years ago to Houston, Texas. Here's a website

Any other location suggestions? (nm)
