Hello,
I've been taking Seroquel (100mg) standard release to sleep at night for over a year now. I'm on AZ's patient assistance program so I get my meds shipped to my doctor for free. I do have to call each month to get a new prescription sent though.
Anyway I didn't realize I was out of refills this time around. So basically I had to get another script from my doctor and send it to AZ in order to receive my free Seroquel for the month. Due to this laps I'm going to be out for about a week. My doctor gave me samples of Seroquel XR to hold me over - he said they no longer provide him w/ samples of the standard release version.
I really don't use Seroquel for anything but sleep so I'm not too keen on using the XR version. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience crushing the XR version up to mimic the SR version. Seroquel really knocks me out so the XR version would probably cause me to be "hungover" all day.
Any insight as to whether or not crushing the XRs would be effective in this regard?
Thanks for any info,
-Jay

Jay I'd call a pharmacist and ask. They should know. Love Phillipa

I've never seen the xr version but im guessing its just a pill with an enteric coating on it...yes crush it...that will break open the contents and allow for stomach dissolution. It's not as if it's gonna hurt you if wrong anyway.

Well I know the 400 looks like a tough oblong tablet. XR didn't do much different than regular for me, although its hard to associate things, it may have done a bit more for my tic, which is too hard to explain, and it may have added more weight, which is also not necessarily causation and causality.
100mg sounds like a fair dose for sleep, its almost up into the psychoactive range.
Generally I've heard people taking 25-50mg for sleep.-- Jay
