I was thinking about ordering my Seroquel from Canada because it is ALOT cheaper. On the order page it listed Seroquel as generic. I thought there wasn't a "generic" Seroquel. My pharmacist here told me there was not a generic form of Seroquel. The Canadian website also said they order there Seroquel from India.
So my question is has anyone used a "generic" Seroquel and did it work just the same? The pills that they show online say Seroquel across them.
Does anyone here have a Canadian pharmacy that they use to order their meds from that they trust?
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Courtney

Hi Courtney don't know but was talking with Son yesterday and seems like he's met with the big drug companies for Veterans that from innoculations developed horrible things like MS and Lou Gerhig's Disease and when they switch to generics their docs say their conditions deteriorate on generics. I myself take generic luvox, valium, and xanax. Wonder if that is why not better. Does your insurance cover brandname? I know it's expensive. What I've done in the past is have the doc write for a stronger pill and split them and get from twice to four times the amount of doses on one prescription for same price. Like one month lasts two to four months. Save money that way. If the pills can be split and I believe seroquel can be split? Love Phillipa I don't think I'd want product from India. But it's your decision and I'm sure others have used that brand and done well.

There are a number of Canadian-made generics for Seroquel on the market. I've never used this drug, so I can't speak to efficacy.

Dont order meds from sites online that get them from india. These are usually sites that sell only generic and the site is set up to look like it is based in canada when it is not. we get the same seroquel as you in the states do...generics are made here in canada....its those fly by night online pharmacies you must watch out for....there are legit canadian pharmacies...ones that will actually tell you the city based out of and a number to call to verify. those are the ones you want.

Hate to say it but India is a fairly large player in the generics market, Mr. Reddy's for example. Canada regularly domestically uses Indian approved generics and they are also listed in the Orange Book (FDA) in the US.However what I can tel is the generic for Seroquel in Canada is made by Novopharm in Ontario, now a subsidiary of Teva. It is likely that Teva will enter exclusivity as they often do, when Seroquel becomes generic around 2011 here in the US.
I suppose this will be excised -- in fact why don't I self-censor myself to ridiculousness, but J--'s D---- in Canada seems like a fairly good and reputable source, as basically all Canadian internet pharmacies that seem legitimate and follow the 90 day rule on import which HAS been allowed by US Borders despite this tidbit being buried (no narcotics or C-x agents like Valium) are based out of Manitoba for whatever reason. At any rate that's where I found the information. I've never bought from them but I've considered, they sound rather polite and seem reasonable. Now the price break on it at the moment is really only 50%.

Generic seroquel became available in Canada early in 2009. I know of at least 8 companies producing a generic. The generic of a drug looks similar (color and size) so that it is recognizable. The difference comes in the markings on it. One side will have the mark of the company producing the generic, sometimes it is an abbreviation of their name, sometimes a logo. The other side will have an abbreviation of the generic name (quetiapine) and the dose.
I have tried two of the generics so far and both were VERY different from brand name.
I got switched to CO (abbr.) first, and I felt awful. I had nausea, digestive problems, mood swings, interrupted sleep. I was hardly eating and I still gained 20 pounds in a month. I later realized I was having withdrawal symptoms because the CO brand was way weaker than the brand name.
My pharmacist then ordered some APO brand for me and it knocked me on my *ss. I passed out soon after I took it. Unfortunately I then had crazy dreams and interrupted sleep. I couldn't get any quality sleep so I was a zombie all day.My insurance requires me to try all of the generics before they will pay for the brand name. I understand why, but from my side, this is my life they're messing with.
My advice to anyone getting a generic is to keep a diary of how you feel, physically and emotionally) and keep in frequent contact with your doctor or mental health worker.
