For the last 5 years now I haven't really been able to laugh or find humor in things. I always used to, before this auto-immune disease (Sjogren's Syndrome) came along and ruined my prosperity...
So now I'm wondering: could an AD or other med help me out in this field? I'm so tired of feeling 'serious' all the time; whilst I used to be a carefree and cheerful person.
Whaddayasay: I'm going to have to accept my predicament? Well how about never!
Take care,
Maria

Ive never experienced a med do this on a long term basis but there is a euphoria that occurs in many people while starting & adjusting dosage towards stability. You laugh and smile alot, have lots of fun with silly stuff...kind of a "drugged out" experience though but very enjoyable. Nardil does have (for me) a uplift effect on my spirits though...lil burst here and there of hypomania...can also be increased with a lil coffee or small dose ginseng. I find myself singing and laughing alot during these lil episodes. Would probably depend on your symptomology though whether you would experience similar effects.

The only other thing i know of that really works every time for me is alcohol, but that of course is impractical as a long term fix.

That's one of the symptoms of depression for me. Sounds like a version of anhedonia. The ADs that have worked for me--Zoloft, Wellbutrin, and Lexapro--all helped in that regard. Which ones have you tried?

All those you mention + about 20 other ones or so.
SSRI's cause anxiety in me. All the others gave me extreme dry mouth, which is already painful because of Sjogren's Syndrome. I don't have many options. Would like to try Agomelatine but it isn't available yet.
Best wishes,

Yeah it's a real sucker. Sometimes it is called the 'dessert disease' because of drying out. It's not gonna kill me straight off, but it sure is a pest!!
Love,
M

Hi D/R,
Yeah I wonder about that too...
My rheumatologist says no because it works by another mechanism.I tried Urecholine once, to no avail.
Thanks for thinking with me though!

Maybe you've tried this already, but some doctors will prescribe benzodiazapines until the SSRI related anxiety lessens (often it's a startup side effect).
I wish you the best of luck in getting your old, humorous self back. Laughing is important!
