Hey manic, first off, I ain't no thread spy! LOL.
Of all the ssri's, I've done best with zoloft. It helped with my depression, anxiety and ocd. I was taking 100mg for over 5 years and have just added zyprexa to help with my mood swings. I had a bit of startup anxiety with the zoloft, thats why I take clonazepam 0.5mg 2-3 times a day, it helps me get through any anxiety untill the zoloft kicks in and that could take 2 or 3 weeks.
I tried cymbalta about 2 months ago... I did not like it!
I do not have major sexual side effect from zoloft - 50 yr. male. Ya, every once in awhile I may have less sex drive but thats just part of my depression, I don't blame zoloft.
You know everyone has their own chemistry so zoloft may or may not be for you, I'd say give it a go and maybe a little clonazepam... if need be?
And goodluck with your upcomming hospital visit. Keep us updated.Regards, Rick

Manic, what are you talking about? I'm NO thred spy. If you look at my recent posts, I had my own PDoc appt yesterday (Monday) I was worried he was going to take me off Parnate, MAOI's are ONLY meds that have ever worked for me. I was tired when I came across your post (taking Nafedipine, don't recommend it, off now) and I couldn't make sense of you post, I was too out of it. So, being that it said December for your visit, (I thought), I POSTED to you that I'd get back to you. Well my appts done and here I am. I'm sorry if I misunderstood. Also I've posted to you before and have never thought you, you're name, or your jokes were weird. Whats a thread spy by the way? I've been here for a couple weeks now. If your saying what I think you are saying the answer is NO. I'm gonna read your other post now. I hope we're ok? I'm sorry you did'nt get more posts when you wanted them.

OK Manic, I just went back and looked at my post to you. If that says "nothing" then why bother? I left it the night before my appt. At least I did respond, and was coming back as I said I would. What you said about me in this post wasn't nice considering I was trying to help you, and would have. And your post IS a little hard to follow. If you want to post me back I'll be happy to help.

Manic666,
I am sorry you are feeling like no one responded to your plea for help. I have felt that way before and it is awful. I saw your thread but could not read it as I had the worst week in a long time. I was all over the place. My t who is also my p-doc had just upped my wellbutrin and it made me feel stoned to tell you the truth. n.
After reading your post, I am not a man so I am not sure I would be helpful for the sexual problems. I am glad Rick posted his thoughts.
I do have anxiety, having panic attacks and I have taken cymbalta and lexapro for it. Cymbalta I took for a year, it helped with depression and pain, zippo for anxiety. In fact for me it increased it. But no p-doc, no meds for anxiety. Finally got off cymbalta and went to lexapro. It was too sedating for me. I slept for 12 hours solid only on 10 mgs. So now I am on
225 mg of wellbutrin and xanax for anxiety. Xanax works well for my anxiety and panic attacks and i am not addicted to it. I can go several days even weeks without it.I will mention that if you feel like you need more advice for meds there is another site, in fact it is the site that recommended me to Babble. It is called crazymeds.org and they know a boat load about meds. Alot of good information in their meds section on each type of medication. Plus the topics in the forums. I have been a member of that site for as long as i have been at Babble since they are the ones that told me about Babble. Just so you have another point of reference should you need it.
take care, and good luck with your appt.

oh you are right it is crazymeds.us. I am sorry you find them mean spirited. I have now been there for two years and don't find them that way at all. They aren't there for psych help. But if you ask legit questions about meds they have a wealth of knowledge. They were kind enough to direct me here for the psychology board and spoke very highly of Babble in terms of support.
When I posted there about some sensitive stuff for me, one of the founders jumped right in the support me.
I am sorry you did not find it so.
Nevertheless, as a lurker you can find a wealth of information concerning meds that you might not can find elsewhere. I have.

Oh, Hi Oky!!
Thought you disappeared!! I did get babble and really need to learn to use that. I am Idiot on computers. Maybe I will email? is that allowed?
Anyway, still alive and kickin, haha. Doc let me stay on Parnate, as he agreed with Scott (SLS) that sometimes this (HTC) is transient effect as your body is getting used to med. Went on that Nfedipine (for me the WORST) for high BP daily for 11-12 days. Felt like HE*L the whole time. (NOTE: I would take it in a heart beat as one time antidote.) Geuss I was too out of it to see Doc, and wanted so much to stay on Parnate. So, still lingering fatigue from d/c'd Nifedipine, but other wise 30mg Parnate seems to brighten mood. Nothing crazy or euphoric, but at least feel ok leaving house! It was getting pretty bad. Please get back to me and let me know how you are and if you've found any meds that are not irritating. Hope you are not in pain. I will try to contact you another way in a little while. Hope you are well!~Fondly, Jade

>>I did get babble and really need to learn to use that. I am Idiot on computers. Maybe I will email? is that allowed?
Here's how to use Babblemail, which is just a private way to "email" without giving out your email address. The PB server will send the message to the poster's email (at whatever address given when the poster registered here) without revealing the email address of the sender. So you will read them in your email program, but Babblemail only shows www.dr-bob.org as the sender.
1. Say you want to Babblemail okydoky. Open any one of her posts. See that her name is in blue (most computers it's blue) and is 'clickable.' That means oky has Babblemail turned on (like you do, your name shows up blue, also)
2. Click on oky's posting name within the message and a Babblemail window will open.
3. Type your message and click on Send Babblemail.
4. You will get a confirmation screen saying it worked.
5. That's it! Oky will get your Babblemail in her email in-box
Does that help? Any questions, I'd be happy to help. It really is a neat feature (thanks, Dr. Bob)
Sure, posters can email each other directly, if they like. It's a free country and all that ;-) It's just a matter of comfort level and people don't exactly "know" each other in cyberspace so may not want to give out their email addresses directly. My personal advice, if you decide to, is first, be careful and you do so at your own risk. If things ever were to turn our badly, Dr. Bob has no authority over email - that is between you and the other party. Also, it might be wise not to post it on the boards. Send it in a Babblemail. Just in case someone you'd rather not have locate your posting name or posts (if they know it, or it resembles your actual name, etc.), is Googling you...an email address on a public site like this could come up awfully easily.
Babblemail away!
regards,
-- 10der
PS - I don't get the idea from your posts you are an "idiot" about anything, even computers. We are all in various stages of learning about things, right? :-)

MANIC666
Hi Manic, I'm glad were OK. Thanks for calling me "special". We have somthing in common then. Cause I'm def SPECIAL haha. Any way, I'm going to answer this thread, then the other, K? Here goes: Manic, I'm going to get serious here because this is serious. I had a family member that was addicted big time to Lorazapam. Don't know how much he was taking, none of us did. Something bad happened (not related to his use) and he upped his dose to the point where we had to take care of him in addition to other stuff. We confronted him and he d/c'd Lorazepam in matter of days, maybe week. I was paying his bills one night, and noticed his face was quivering, he was shaking, just looked scary. I called my Doc and she said take him directly to Hospital. They kept him a week, he was in an extreme manic state when he came out, and diagnosed with 2 disorders.
He's now on many meds, that I wonder if he would need had he not abused Lorazapam so badly and d/c'd too quickly. I geuss you know what I'm getting at. One, your Doc IMHO should be starting a taper NOW on the Lorazapam if you are to be off in January!! Please ask him about this now??!!Especially if you're taking more than he knows about, I wasn't clear on that. PLEASE,(if ok with doc) for your own mental safety, make a chart starting where you are now, and when you go into Hospital. Taper evenly from now to then. PLEASE do this Manic. Or I feel you will really wish you did. To quote a "special" person, you most def will be in the sh*t if you don't start taper now. Don't know anything about Cymbalta, Zoloft, or C.B.T. other than mixed results on A/d's and same with C.B.T. I think the C.B.T. couldn't hurt anything as an augment to meds. At least no side effects or w/ds!!!
Going to your other post, as with your dyslexia, I have problem proccesing things quickly some times, mostly since depression hit. I like my answers to be helpful and complete also. So give a little while if you are on board.

OK, maybe not an idiot....just a little slow. My programs are outdated I think, and why can't things just be explained in plain English? (not babble mail, ALL of it!!!) Everything I know about computers, I learned by accident!Thank you 10der heart, always to the rescue!!!!
Fondly, Jade
PS-Are the directions to Babblemail posted somewhere? I'm sure they are but couldn't find anywhere. Don't answer that!! It was probably right in front of my face!! I have found that depression has cut my cognitive ability in half!!
Thanks again.

Dear caring posters, how about instead of posting here, we all jump up to "MANIC'S HOSPITAL APPT. HELP!!!" Thread, and give him the answers he was originally looking for? I'm sure he's glad we're sorry, but I think ultimately he wanted his original post answered. He's got an important decision(s) to make. JMHO, of course.

well, it's explained generally in the FAQ section 'what are the options at this site?':
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#options
BUT, I couldn't figure it out when I was new, and I am moderately knowledgeable about computers, etc. I think our FAQ are so large it's really hard to find things until you've read through all (or most) of it and gotten an idea how Dr. Bob organizes things....
Don't worry about it. Many, many people have not understood Babblemail and other technical things about Babble. It's one of my very favorite things to do to help posters here with stuff like that. So, it's win-win, I hope.
later.... :-)
