Lyrica: A Wonderful Drug

Posted by jnew12 on November 3, 2008, at 21:22:02

Since I have been taking Nardil I have not appreciated the little medication I can take with it..ie: valium, xanax, klonopin.

Although High Dose of Lyrica is great. I take 400-600mg and it whipes away my depression and anxiety. I can easily talk to people when I am on it and I have very bad social anxiety. One minus is people may comment that I look like my eyes are glazed or I am stoned, and sometimes I talk too much while on it. But, nardil is actually making my more quite for some reason so that is a good good thing to talk more.

Does anyone else like this med?

Heard low doses were great for anxiety but the withdrawal was pretty bad. Phillipa

Withdrawal is bad, but not as bad as benzo wd, trust me! I came off over 600mg fine. 600mg give you a killer appetite, and reduces my daytime nausea I had since I was a kid. But, when you wd from it, it has reverse effects, and you get nausea mild benzo wd feeling, but no way as bad...I came off 50mg of methadone and 4mg of xanax at the same time..now that was hard! I stayed up 6 day in a row, first I tried unsion, melatonin, and remeeron to get some sleep, but it did not work. I ended up having to take high dose of antipsychotics, which I hate just to get some sleep, it was so bad I though I was going to go crazy, and have to go back to the psych unit.

Anyways, I heard people compare high dose of lyrica too GHB.. I never tried GHB, but I get this wierd speediness, and sedation at the same time, mild confusion, but extreme eurphoria, and a high feeling.

It's deff worth a try.

I wished I could switch my Neurontin to Lyrica, but it caused 20/20 to go to like 20/40. Now I dont know if that would have gone away or not, but it is a small side effect of both drugs. Just my experience though

Are you on lyrica just for anxiety and depression

I was put on lyrica myself for neuropathic pain and gained weight instantly, all in the waist it seemed! and had really bad vertigo, I also could not sleep which my neurologist thought was just so bizarre. I also take xanax and still had sleeping problems.

I was wondering did you gain any weight if so did it taper off or keep up? Did you experience any vertigo type feelings?

I am curious because I still need to find a medication for my trigeminal neuralgia I am considering tegertol but afraid of side effects of that too. I am wondering if I did not give lyrica enough of a chance.

I take high dose neurontin on occassion which has some lyrica like properties. The problem with both drugs is that the psychotropic effects will wear off if taken everyday. If you only took it a couple times a week that might not happen. If you google lyrica you will find references to tolerance to lyrica.

Hi-- I found Lyrica to be great at first. Maybe it's great all around, but I happen to develop tolerance quickly to meds. I started at 50mg and thought Lyrica was a Godsend. Then, up to 100mg, then 150mg, then 200mg. By then, I didn't feel anything at all, whether I took it or not. I was just in the hospital, so I asked the doctor to just discontinue it. But hope it works better for you!

works right away like a benzo. But if taken every day you will develope tolerance to the drug and I've heard it eventually stops working.

however if you use every other day that won't happen. At least you can have some good days. That's how I use neurotin. I use Friday and Saturday. At least I have two good days..Better than nothing

I don't know how on earth you did that! I was taking 300 mg of methadone for pain (without much result) and pissed off my doctor who cut me off cold turkey. I went through 12 days of the worst hell on earth one could imagine. Couldn't eat, sleep, everything smelled nauseating, drooled, runny nose, the shakes, suicidal ideation, but all I could do for those 12 days was sit on the couch and drink water out of a bottle (couldn't hold a glass). Friends had to walk me to the toilet. Couldn't bathe, didn't care, just lived minute to minute in distress. Horrible. Never, NEVER try methadone unless you get a guarantee from your physician that they will wean you off of it.

And Xanax too? Wow!

I'm Thinking of getting it to auggment with nardil. What is the starting dose? How long will it take to work? Will the lowest dose give you any change?

Yes, it's odd, isn't it?

It's very easily done

As they do

>I went through 12 days of the worst hell on earth one could imagine.
Only 12 days?
I'm sure though it was just as bad as you say.
