i would like to find out if people find that the highest dose generally used of prozac which i think is 80-100mg is enough to overcome a relapse if the medication stopped working after a while on a lower dose like 20mg. also what is the highest dose of prozac you have been on.

The maximum recommended dose for Prozac is 80mg/day.
An experienced psychopharmacologist may be comfortable increasing the dose above 100mg/day.
There are also options for Prozac augmentation by adding lithium, buspirone, pindolol, bupropion, or an atypical antipsychotic.

B2chica two ways? never heard that before yes please try to find the article. As for me I tried 20mg of prozac when first out with low dose xanax and I wasn't anxious at the time but by day three I was in panic mode so stopped the med and three days later was back to me which at the time was great. Highest I've ever been on has been 40 mgs.
However, instead of upping the dose, I would actually talk to your doctor about *lowering* the dose for a while, then coming back up.
That strategy, in addition to just outright stopping the drug for a while, has worked for me.
I've been on Prozac for 8 or 9 years and no poop out.
Seldom.

I was on 100 mg a day for two years. 80 mg didn't help my OCD (but it helped my depression). 100 mg took care of everything.
