Hi all
I am in the middle of the proces of switching from a combo of Lexapro 25 mg and Remeron 35 mg to a correct dose of nortriptyline.
As agreed with the PD I lowered the Lexapro gradually from 25 to 20, 15 and now 10 mgs over some weeks time. At the same time I went from 25 to now 50 mg Nortriptyline.I have decided to make the switch as I have many of the melancholic features; morning worsening, no appetite, no lust etc. that the combo Lex/Rem did not help with.
Now the strange thing is that the morning after taking the first 25 mg of Nortriptyline, I felt beter than in a long time and the second day, I felt great (as if I was not ill anymore) and so it was the next 7-8 days - at this time I was on 20 mg Lexapro and Remeron 35 mg unchanged.
It was like this small dose of Nort just hit the missing spot for me in a way that Lexapro could not on its own.As I increased the Nort to 50 mg and lowered the Lex dosage to first 15 mg and later 10 mg some days ago my mood went slightly downwards.
I am quiet puzzled here.
Could it be that such a small dose (25 mg) of Nortriptyline can work within a few days?
I was expecting all sorts of bad SE but nothing happened, only a bit of dry mouth (which after increasing to 50 mg is somewhat annoying now)I am now wondering if I should go back to the 20 mg Lexapro and 25 mg Nort again and just see what happens or just stick to the PD plan of dropping the Lex completely and increase the Nort.
Any thoughts?

Just curious, how did you like the Remeron? How did it make you feel?

Remeron on its own worked well for periods of 3 or 4 weeks, then not working for similar periods.
That is why we added Lexapro. When it worked, I felt like I was my real self me again and I ate too much, when not working, I felt depressed.
I was on 60 mg at the highest and it was very difficult to get up in the morning.
This is the end of the thread.
