It is highly unlikely anything is going to provide immediate results on depression, with a few exceptions such ritalin, marijuana, cocaine, alcohol, opioids, provigil, tianeptine, milnacipran...and even with any of those, they can in some people make their depression much worse immediately.
A small minority of people do get rapid response from meds, so it isn't impossible, just not to be expected.
The brain adaptations that have taken place during depression take time to reverse themselves with whatever medication is being consumed to hopefully do that. We're talking a few weeks at a minimum to see noticeable improvements, and a few months for more improvements.
Dosing with lithium is tricky. Smaller doses versus larger doses have different feels to them.
For depression, doses are usually in the 300mg to 600mg range.
It may or may not work at any dose or any given amount of time. Same as all meds. Then again, it may work wonderful. Just stay on course, focus on other things as time distractors in the meantime, and look ahead on the calender a few weeks as your first goal.
If at any time you start feeling a lot worse than you started, I would say stop, or reduce the dose, while others would say call your doctor first.

thank you bleau I do apreciate your response to my post. I am feeling pretty good today, my mind is pretty quiet and my mood is good too. I understand things take a while now, Im just soooooooooooooooooooooo impatient when it comes to improvment. I appreciate your info and advice! Also I hope everyone on this board gets better as well as myself.
I have this paper on my wall that I read sometimes
its by the Buddha
"May all beings everywhere plagued with sufferings of body and mind quickly be freed from their illnesses. May those frightened cease to be afraid, and may those bound free. May the powerless find power, and may people think of befriending eachother. May those who find themselves in trackless fearful wilderness: the children, the aged, the unprotected be gaurded by benificial celesitals, and may they swiftly attain Buddhahood."
hope that isnt junk, I think its good
