I have been working on this for a while now with mixed results. The cure would lead to discontinuation of my meds.
Thanks for your reply.
Regards,
Jamie

Welcome -- and well, you have your choices, but hmm.... if it is biochemical depression, there are swings when you will have it and times when you won't -- there isn't a "cure", there are palleatives. That is what unfortunately I have discovered in life with my extremely complicated disorder, is that everything is a palleative. Only time will tell how much things shift in my mind and what I do personally and psychologically to shift things.
I guess that sounded like a downer and I didn't want to say so, but we all search for relief, and maybe "cure" is that for you, so I will leave it there.
St. John's Wort has unknown consequences, it does have side effects, it I guess is a small MAOI, although that isn't really proven.Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) can help with mood issues for some and is safer than Tegretol (carbamazepine).
5HTP may help with sleep, possibly, just as l-tryptophan could.
The Benadryl though I'm confused about -- it is a CNS depressant and for some a temporary high because of the belladonna like quality, but it can cause after-night depression. Depending on the amount you're taking it can tip over to a slight psychosis-like state (atropine, belladonna). I would go easy on it. Just a thought.
