I have a question regarding a cocktail i would like try but don't know if it is safe?
I have been on zoloft 100mg / remeron 15mg.
I stopped remeron and added nortriptylene 50mg. I also decrease the zoloft to 50mg.I was feeling pretty good but I could not sleep.
I would like to try zoloft 50mg / nortriptylene 50mg .... both in a.m. and add remeron 15mg at night for sleep?
Can someone with a sound background please comment on my proposal?
I don't think it would be risky as far as serotonin syndrome, but I'm not sure.
I just had a p/doc appointment 3 days ago and I can't get back to see him for another 3 months.
I'll probably phone my GP tomorrow, but he is not too well schooled when it comes to mixing and matching. He has told me so and I can appreciate that.
I know there are some people here with alot of knowledge.
Please help.
Regards, Rick

I would not be worried about it. The mirtazapine is also an effective antidote for SS.

A question for you desolationrower on the mirtazipine;
If it is an antidote for SS, does that mean it inhibits serotonin production and only helps with nordrenaline?
Sorry if it's sounds dumb, I'm just learning how these antidepressants and chemicals work.
Thanks, Rick

It is actually unclear the degree to which it increases serotonin, but the serotonin antagonism is what is responsible for preventing or stopping SS (as well as some of the therapuetic fx).

Not sure about the nortriptelen, but the other two are low doses. So probably not too likely.
