I am losing weight and will soon be down to my previous lizard look. My shorts are riding on my hips..I guess I'm very fashionable now. :-) I am wearing capris that I couldn't wear two months ago.
It is almost 2 p.m. and I haven't eaten yet. And I crave sugar which is really strange for me. I like salty foods the best. My blood pressure is great so if I am hungry I will eat something salty.
Anyone else lost weight on this med?

So we're both now officially thin. I believe this is the med to add when wanting to lose weight. Isn't it dopamine related? I took it for only one week and it reved me up to much. Great that you tolerate it. Phillipa

Oh yeah. Wellbutrin by itself put me in very dangerous weight territory. It was nearly impossible to force down food. My doctor added Zoloft to combat this; it's working very slowly.

I have been on bupropion SR 100mg. for about a year, and I have gained weight on it! I've read that it can be a side-effect. When I first went on it, I was very hungry all the time, then it evened out.
I am very depressed that I have gained. I am not overweight according to BMI, but I have gained about 10 pounds on a 5' 10" frame. I am doing aerobics to lose...hopefully.

It makes me depressed that the Wellbrutin isn't helping my "low-grade depression". :-)
I am on 200mg of Lamictal daily and we thought that the addition of the Wellbrutin would be enough to boost myself out of the little pit that I'm in. Not so.
I see my Pdoc 9/04 and we'll talk about it then.
How long does it ordinarily take for the med to kick in? I've been on it three weeks. Maybe I'm expecting too much, too soon?
I ate once yesterday. I agree that it's very hard to force food down now.

>That's possible - for most medications it's been taking me 6 to 8 weeks to respond. (I've been considering my body and brain to be "slow learners" and I'm not happy about it, either.) I hope things start to improve for you.

The little train sure is having trouble with the hill. :-) Headaches at least 12 hours a day.
I won't give up for two months and then I'll just collapse on a fainting sofa and let the dogs feed me peeled grapes! That is if it hasn't kicked in by then.

For me, Wellbutrin was very fast-acting. Within a couple of days I felt like I'd smoked some crack. It was fun! But not so dramatic after a couple of weeks. Good thing, cause I was only sleeping a couple hours a night. Has it given you insomnia? That's the reason it alone didn't help my depression. Or rather, it helped my depression, but then I got depressed again from not sleeping.

Me too! I felt like I had a crack pipe in my hands at all times for about 4 or 5 days. It started bothering me alot and the insomnia really sucked. That part is gone and now I'm just back to headaches and waiting and not eating.
I am going to go back on some meat. Buffalo. I had a burger with my children and it was sooo good. I haven't had a burger in lord knows how many years. I researched and buffalo seems to be healthier plus I found a source here that is grass fed.

Hey there wellbutrin buddy
I noticed um... several effects from wellbutrin
within a few days of my first dose, I had rapid increase in suicidal thoughts and then I OD'd and went to hospital. They continued me on wellbutrin, and I'm SO HAPPY. Once I stabilized, I experienced remittance from my anxiety and depression for the first time in... 18 mos. I had gotten a depression remission during this time, but anxiety was chronic, and coupled with dysphoric agitation. yuck. The anxiety would return every evening, though, so pdoc increased my WB (SR) from 150 am to 150 am and 150 in the afternoon. Poof! I'm CURED!
I even went off of abilify 2 weeks ago without TOO much drama. Okay, I still have some episodes of racing thoughts, but... for the most part they are these really really loud songs that play incessantly in my head. Or I catch my fingers playing piano on the steering wheel.
I noticed AD effect within about 2 weeks of first taking it. Of course, I was also hypomanic for the first 5 weeks of WB treatment. oh well...
best luck to you

Hello, WB Sis!
Wow, I'm so sorry that you had the hospitalization....but am thrilled that you made it through to the other side on the med. I am so pleased to know that you improved on the double dosage. You go, Girl!!!
I am determined to do this. I'll ask Pdoc about increasing mine next month.
I am so pleased to hear from you!!!
Think I better stay where I am right now. I had unbelievable mania the first few days. I talked to the dogs constantly and they never answered me..talk about frustrating. :-) Then I ran more errands that I even had! It is a VERY good thing that I didn't teach during that period.
Can you imagine me bouncing all over a room full of students? They would take it in stride but I would be so embarrased later. Plus I would have gotten into it with a guard for sure. :-)I ate! I had a tuna sandwich and a coke. First coke I've had in awhile and boy was it good. :-)
