Before I started on Emsam, I was working out with a personal trainer and loved it---I quit working out because we left on an extended trip-- 5 months in a motor home--- At one point, I went to the fitness room in the RV resort and was working out and my heart rate was getting a little higher than normal. Then I went to an aerobics class, and it went way too high and I had to back off. I was not working as hard as I normally did.
I would love to get back to exercise, but hesitate to do too much. I am gaining weight, feel sluggish, fat, and lazy.
What do others do regarding exercise? If I start slowly, will I be able to work up to a good exercise without a dangerous rise in heartrate/BP??
FWIW---I am a 66 year old female.

I must say you should be proud of yourself for keeping up the excercise. Have you spoken to your doc about this? I feel the excercise is very important as I'm close to your age and it's so hard to start all over again. Phillipa

>The time I am referring to it got to about 170. When working out, I wear a chest band/watch for cardiac/caloric monitor. It did take a while to rise to that point, but when it got there, I backed off until it came down. That was a few months ago,and I have not had a "good" work out since then--not just because of the HR concern, but because I was traveing for 5 months and just got lazy!!

I forgot to mention it to her when I was in.It will be starting over because I have done nothing physical in several months. Just fat and lazy!!! I have a great exercise DVD---but I have to buy a DVD player!
It is hard to dicipline myself to exercise--after I get started, I feel so much better. Going to a trainer is fun---but just hard to do it when home and nobody around to push me!

Ever thought of bike riding do it nightly. I have disc problems from too much running in my past? Love Phillipa 170 is much too high!!!! I'm sure you are well aware of that. I do not like excercise indoors.

The area where we live right now is too hilly for me to ride! In the winter, we go to an RV resort where it is pretty flat and I can ride. Also,we are thinking about moving, and it will be a flat area. As long as I can ride without wearing the goofy helmet, I will ride. But, I HATE anything on my head!!!
I really would like to go back to the gym and trainer, but we have been so busy and I could not go on a regular basis.
We RV a lot --just got back from a 5 month trip, have taken 2 more short trips since then--and getting ready to go again. Retirement is great but sure messes up trying to have a schedule for anything! Now looking at a different house, different town, and all that---makes me tired thinking about it all.
Just know that I need find a way to exercise some how!!
