Hey everyone,
I'm new to these boards but after reading some of the posts on Nardil starting doses, I am worried I have started too high.
Is there any negative effects of starting at 60mg, other than side effects? I am worried it wont work as well because of starting at this dose; it even said 45mg on the bottle but I ignored this because I previously heard that 60mg is where everyone feels the effects and I wanted to get there asap.
Also how long did it take to really kick in for most people?
Thanks,
Daryl

Didn't your prescriber tell you what dose to start on? I would advise you to start at that dose, not what it says on the bottle, or what you've read here.
In general, it's safer and more common to start on a smaller dose and build up. For one thing, many people respond to a smaller dose, and it's preferable to use less rather than more, if possible.
Second, there may be side effects which would be less or even remit on a smaller dose.
In sum, there are a lot of good reasons to start with a low dose. Mostly, you need to follow the regimen given by your pdoc.

I wouldn't worry too much about it so long as you are feeling okay. If not, go down to 45 mg for a while. My therapeutic dose was 90 mg and when I stopped and then started up again, I started at 90 mg. Starting there won't decrease it's effectiveness.

Thanks dcruik518, that's what I wanted to know. I am fine with the side effects, I just want it to kick in as soon as possible, I really couldn't care less about constipation and a little delayed orgasm! That's nothing compared to living with Social Anxiety, I can do those side effects standing on my head so long as the Nardil ends up working. I'm actually feeling mildly lifted in mood after only a few days of taking it so it looks like it may end up working very well for me in the weeks to come.

The side effects were a lot worse for me, although I also found them "worth it" due to the benefits.
Do be prepared for a lot worse, in case it comes.
