Hi Gardenergirl,
I've always enjoyed your posts over the years and from reading them feel that you are somebody I really respect.
Anyway, I noticed you were on nardil. How did it work for you and what did you do to overcome the insomnia?

Hi and thanks. Nardil has been the only AD that has touched my depression. I felt a noticable lift in my mood and confidence. When I tried SSRI's, I could never really tell if they were doing any good or not.
The insomnia trouble I had was early awakening. When I started waking up at 4:00 a.m. totally alert and unable to get back to sleep, I started taking Ambien 10 mg. That helped me to stay asleep. Ambien CR also did, but it left me feeling depressed and sort of "hung over" the next day, unfortunately. I also now take Provigil, and that has helped me with my sleep/wake cycle, too, so that I rarely need Ambien anymore.
Hope that helps. :)

GG, was your doc reluctant to add Provigil? Mine is but I have read that others are on it with Nardil. What dose are you on and what does it do for you? Is there any benefit with it providing focus as I suffer from ADD symptoms too.
Thanks for your advice with Provigil/Nardil....

My previous pdoc added Provigil 200 mg, and she didn't seem reluctant at all, though in hindsight, that might have been another red flag that it was time to change docs. My current pdoc seems to ask me every visit exactly why I'm taking it again. I know he remembers, but I can tell he's reluctant about it.I was hoping it would help with inattentive symptoms of ADHD. It hasn't made a huge different at all in that, except for maybe curbing verbal impulsiveness a bit. What it has done is help regulate my sleep/wake cycle so that I can get up in the morning when it's socially acceptable to get up and not when my own body clock dictates. And getting to sleep at night is then easier, too, so I'm not needing much Ambien anymore. I wish it did more for ADHD, or I wish there was something else I could take for it with Nardil. I almost think ADHD symptoms are a bigger problem for me now than depression.
