Hi
For the past six years I have been suffering from anxiety, which has grown quite severe over the past five months. My basic diagnosis is panic disorder, generalized, anxiety disorder, and moderate depression.
I've tried about a dozen or so different drugs which don't seem to have done very much. My psychiatrist is now considering Lithium.
I don't think I am bi-polar. I certainly suffer depression and severe anxiety, along with racing thoughts which are accompanied by severe panic, but I don't get actual 'manic' phases.
My question is, will Lithium really help my anxiety and panic attacks?? I've tried a number of antipsychotics which don't seem to have much of an effect. I'm also taking Diazepam on an as-needed basis, but obviously this isn't a long term solution.
Will Lithium work for panic attacks and G.A.D.??
Thanks!

There was someone here about a year ago on massive doses of klonopin and yet anxiety was still out of control. Bipolar was not suspected, to the best of my memory. The person was started on lithium and experienced major relief from anxiety. The klonopin dose was able to come down quickly.
