Share your experience with Trivastal!

Posted by Ezekiel on May 11, 2008, at 12:51:28

Hello everybody,

I've been reading through the archives concerning Trivastal experiences, but it would be especially helpful if individuals that are presently taking this compound could briefly describe their results.

Have you found Trivastal to be stimulating/activating? Has it been at all effective for dispelling anhedonia or apathy for anyone? What side effects did you encounter and for how long?

I'm considering adding this to my regimen for treating a stubborn and protracted dysthymia - it has been known to morph into major depression in the past during times of very high stress, and so addressing my dysthymia before that occurs has become my mental health goal.

Well ok, that sums it up, and of course as always, thanks in advance for your time!

Zeke

What happened to ATMLady? The way you explain what you have sounds a lot like me. May I follow? Love Phillipa

A little, though not like a stimulant.

>Has it been at all effective for dispelling anhedonia or apathy for anyone?

It's a little pleasurable, so maybe.

>What side effects did you encounter and for how long?

No side effects for me. Relatively benign.

Oddly, it did nothing for me.

I don't seem to have any noticeable response to cabergoline (Dostinex) either. Possibly some sex enhancement at very high doses.

From both Trivastal IR (I tried this first and thought I had been scammed) and Trivastal Retard I didn't seem to get much of any effect at all, and nary even a side effect. Possibly a spot of nausea. Actually, it may have increased hypnagogic hallucinations. I tried doses up to 400mg Trivastal Retard in a day with no response.

My girlfriend took 50-100mg and also felt not too much, except possibly an enhancement of emotion (good and bad) and libido increase.

This stumps me, as I'm not really sure why I would get little response at all. Very strange. Perhaps my geographic location (just somewhere in the northwestern United States) inevitably entails some step that will damage Trivastal.

A few other people have gotten very good results, as you may know. Check out Mishal's posts.

p.s. I tried rectal administration as well. :-) No luck though! :(

Whoo Hoo! ATMlady in the house! Yes, I took Trivatal for about 3 weeks during last winter and it was, well, blah. I was coming off wellbutrin and switched directly to the trivastal. I experienced some increase in pleasurable feelings such as being emotionally thrilled (to the point of physical reactions) to songs on the radio. I slept really well, taking naps during the day, with GREAT dreams. But that could have been from coming of the mega-dose of wellbutrin the pdoc had me on, I discontinued the trivastal for two reasons:

1. I got in a shipment of provigil I had ordered. provigil being a dopamine re-uptake inhibitor as opposed to trivastal, which is a dopamine agonist. eems like they'd kinda have the same effect but NO! The Provigil was much more what I needed for MY depression.

2. I had noticed, and only because I had been watching out for "compulsive behaviors" as that is a risk of dopamine agonists, that I ate carbs to the extreme while on trivastal. And I was seeking out restaurants that I loved more and more. Because things just tasted so much better, I think. So one night, superbowl sunday as a matte of fact, I was drinking wine as I like to, but drank way too much, as I was starting to do while taking trivastal, and spilled wine all over my laptop and paid $500 to get it fixed. So it's a good thing I got the provigil in the mail!

I haven't posted before about the weird cravings because I never really experienced them as cravings at the time. It's still very mysterious to me. I remember reading about the people taking Mirapex who suddenly started having affairs or gambling and I'm like, yeah, right. But I watched my own behavior change without consciously changing it and I can now see how it happens. I start taking Trivastal and next thing I know the Indian buffet I go to about 4 times a year I have visited 4 times this month and I wonder ... why? I had the urge to go there and I went. But why did I have the urge when usually I wouldn't, at least that often? Because MAN IT IS SO GOOD!!!!! But Indian food is just the tip of the iceberg with me. Because with Trivastal I was buying Doritos and all the salty stuff I love so much, that usually, I am able to keep to moderation.

So anyway, just watch out with those dopamine agonists is all I can say. There's probably many a good reason to take them, but if it's depression you're treating, consider a dopamine re-uptake inhibitor over an agonist is my advice.

I also had heightened appreciation of music while I was taking pramipexole (Sifrol, Mirapex). Also, colours were more vivid and visual contrast in general seemed sharpened. I enjoyed watching movies (and listening to music) a lot more than usual. I don't recall whether food tasted better, but I think so.

Dopamine agonists have been associated with the onset of sleepiness, sometimes suddenly. In my experience with pramipexole, the sleepiness was eventually the most essential remaining effect after tolerance had developed, and that was also the reason why I quit it. However, before that, on one occasion it kept me awake for over 24 hours.
