Hey guys...,names C.J...just registered to day...Just wanted to say hello... found the site...acidentally?..actualy(LOL)...googling the same question... Just wanted to say hello to evevery one....seems like there's a latta great info on hear..seemes like a great recourse,... like I said , I found the site..after trying folowng a thread I found on my google search(For info on Adderall) ...It was called "Adderall vs Ritalin" ; it was posted buy a guy named "Alejandro"..;it was posted ;RE:posed; to another guy nameed .."Maxime";I think he started the thread ...... The ;RE: post from "ALejandro" .. its what came up on my search ... and it had alot of very specific infoformation I was tying to find out about...,but,any way , there were no links to follow the answers:after; his post: just before ...I don't know if any of those guys are still on here.?? ; The post , was ,fom Waay back in April/05...Ethier way,..... I Hope u guys can help...MY MAIN QUESTION IS THIS: ... I'm considering goin on Aderall... for greater clairity,focus ,ect.. and I'm looking for advice?... ;-F.N...{I'm already taking; Strattera and an SSRI; for a diagnoses ADHD)..I'm curious about a COUPLE/SEVERAL- very-SPECIFIC perspectives on this?... ;But, FIRST and FORMOST,;.... I guess,..I'd be interested in :"ANY OPINION'S PERIOD".... , even in general, about-(ADERALL);that anyone on this site might think could be usefull.. woud B greatly appriciated!!! now...MORE SPECIFICLY: ...(1)any ones opinion's on it compares to other stim, med.'s.. (2)fellings on how it stacks up with taking w/ an SSRI, at same time?( wich I am...."zoloft" 200mg's/day-as a "2nd-line" med. 4 add ... cause I never cared 4 ritalin as a kid ...and that's all that was aval.)... (3).How about ,in concert w/ straterra (*wich I also take for about a year now <high dose too-125/150 mg's/day> .... WICH; is exacltly why I got int'd in ADDerall ..in 1st place... sraterra works very well for me during ..most of the last year..but I have extremly bad allergies...and now seoans starting.. and ist's not doing the trick...OK ..(4)doses..??? i'm a qickmetabolisser n only responded to straterra at h,d.'s .... any suggestions if that's gonna tranlate into addrl. doses(5) also adderallxr or Fast acting? ..I know it's alot guys..but id realy appreciate any ifo.. you could give THANX C.J>

Adderall is a mix of different salts and isomers (dextro and levo) of amphetamine. Most amphetamine products (eg. Dexedrine) contain only dextroamphetamine. Many people find that Adderall works better, while some find that products with only dextroamphetamine are best.
There are also those who respond better to methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, etc.), or dextromethylphenidate (Focalin).
Furthermore, there is modafinil (Provigil), which may also be the best choice in some cases.
Methamphetamine (Desoxyn) is more rarely prescribed, perhaps because the recreational use of "meth" has given it a bad reputation. It's generally regarded as the most potent stimulant, and is naturally long-lasting, although the availability of extended release (XR) formulations of amphetamine and methylphenidate has reduced the importance of this aspect.
If you start Adderall, you can probably reduce your dose of Strattera, or even quit it.
As to XR or immediate release, it's a matter of price and taste. Some like to take the drug only once daily, while others don't mind multiple dosing.

Hey "undopaminergic"....Thanx for the reply.... most actul info. Ive gotten back yet... I really appreciate it!!!....... The Info on the amphetomine salts is great (ironicly..thats the part ive been putting the m/ reseach into)....OK....now my question now is....I understand the amphetomine salts ore a combination of 2 diff. amphetamines..(one havinrg more of an effect neropenephrine) and the other ( directly on dopimine)..... got that much..sraight....but what I'm tring to figure out is (wich u actualy eluded to) is the; synergistic effects of the "poly-pharmocolgy"; of taki'n all three of meds in combination..... and how this all effects the METABOLISATION of the Adderal ?....this is my bigggest puzzel is ...this is my thoughts so far ...hopefully you have some better feed back...(I'm currently taking - 200mg/day "zoloft" as well as 125mm/day of Straterra.).... combmo works good ..most of the year..BUT ; ALERGY SEASON(wich mine r VERY severe!!) it just dosent do it...< and weather thev'e medicly estblished it or not...there is a direct corellation w/ alllergiies n my adhd symtoms n I supect many others to> , any way,.soooooooooooo.." I know it wasn't the greatst idea...But I don'thave a current psych.... so I went to my reg doc and got scipt for Adderal 20mg/2;day....now litterature and most tastimonials ....say even the short/act. is supossed to last 3-6 hours and th xr...like 9/10 ..or somthing?) any way.... I took 30mgs of sh. act.... and it "kick in" --1/2 hour..lot af anxiety at first/ wich I figure 's from the Strattera ALREADY having nuerpenephrin up.. but onece that went awway..%?* min.'s.... i had the BEST (1hr) or concentration Iv'e ever had."and I don't mean like I was HIGH"....like I coud concentrate n mentally coordinat things liike never befor in my life.... BUT...exactly 1 hr after it "K.I."... I CRASHED ..i KNOW BECAUSE i MATICULASLY CHARTED EVERY THING.......so i took anthther 30mgs....same ecact thing "K.I".... a little fastter... but 1hr of amazing clarity and mental energy...then crash? .....now I'm asssuming the positive hr is because of wich ever "specific amphet. salt"..that afffects DOPAMINE.... ( following ...that stimulants have always been 1st lin med's....tyh'the ones that REALy affect dpamine).... and Ive always tried to avoid /because / hated ritalin as a kid....n';at that; time was only thing available)....any way? obviosly I coudn't keep that dose up indef. 30mgs/hour...F.N. also tried the xr...... maybee/... maybee?... lasted a little longer?. /but not evn close to 2hrs....MY idea ,like i sad before , is that reason i'm, not getting any realistic sustained respone ..is beccase...one or the other.. or booth; of the other two med are some how interacting; or conteracting the metabolisim and the neural effect of the Adderall???..... this is my theory any way..I'm probly leaning to the straterra...but i realy don't know...n whats even more wierd ...is I herar tons of testimonials on here of people love'n the synergitic effects of ading stims n ssri,s...cause the stims have a sertonagic effect of there own........Hopefully you have some better insight or suggestins???...Hope to hear from u soon... thanx again C.J.

I think your experience of amzing mental energy, clarity and concentration may be associated with increasing levels of the drug in the brain, and with increasing levels of dopamine, culminating in a peak. After the peak, the levels begin to decline, and this probably coincides with the "crash".
I don't think you should take 30 mg at a time. It seems a bit much, especially since you're also taking Strattera. It may be better to take perhaps 5 mg every hour or so, and you would have a much smoother experience that lasts longer.
If you think Strattera is interferring with your Adderall experience, maybe you should take a break from Strattera, and take the only the Adderall (and Zoloft). This may help elucidate whether there is indeed a negative interaction going on between the Strattera and Adderall.
