Either way its a bunch of NE causing you to be edgy but at least the adderal can be productive.

Modafinil (Provigil) is generally less adrenergic than amphetamines (Adderall), so it seems somewhat unlikely that this would be a NE (noradrenaline) effect.
Have you tried methylphenidate? What was your experience with that?
Also, if you've tried cocaine, how did you react?

hi, i'm just curious-- why do you ask about cocaine? is cocaine similar in structure/mode of action/reaction to adderall or provigil?
thanks!

>Methylphenidate, cocaine and modafinil are all dopamine reuptake inhibitors. It's likely that oral cocaine, as a sustained release formulation, would be quite effective for treating ADHD without inducing a "high". Meanwhile, it has been demonstrated (in experienced cocaine users) that intravenous methylphenidate is indistinguishable from cocaine (modafinil isn't soluble, so it can't be injected).
There are still notable differences between the drugs, of course.
Amphetamine (Adderall), however, differs quite substantially. It releases dopamine (DA), whereas the others only block the reuptake of DA that was already released. Therefore, amphetamine can effect much higher increases in extracellular DA than any of the others, and can be useful where the others lack efficacy. Another effect that distinguishes amphetamine from the others is that its long-term abuse is associated with pathological changes in several radiological markers of dopaminergic function - this can be visualised with brain imaging techniques.

well i reacted to cocaine just fine
but reacting well to a recreational drug is easier than making a life with a drug

>That depends on how reliably the drug works - eg. whether tolerance develops, and how expensive the drug is - that is, whether you can afford enough of it for regular and sustained usage. And of course, if you're taking the drug intranasally, there is also the question of whether the mucosa will endure the treatment (there have been cases of perforated nasal septa resulting from excessive insufflation of cocaine).
