I have been taking 250 mg. of Wellbutrin a day along with 20 mg of Adderall the past month. The depression has felt SO much worse. It scares me because I see no good in life anymore at all. I have to wait 5 more days for appt. with psychiatrist but am worried -- should I stop one or the other or both? I will call dr. on Monday to ask over the phone. I just don't understand how my depression could be getting so much worse when dr. thought I had a dopamine issue these drugs would help. (We already knew it wasn't a seratonin issue). Thanks.

I would be thinking of changing something if I felt like you do.
But which would you change first (assuming you decide to change one or the other)?

I guess take away the Adderall...maybe up to 300 mg of Wellbutrin alone for 1 more week and see if that works? After 5 weeks I would think it would help. Ugh.... This is miserable...

Amphetamines dont have a lasting anti depressant effect over time because of tolerance. You're experiancing tolerance which means its time to take a break from the adderal or take more but thats a bad answer.

it might be the adderal that is making you feel more depressed.. talk to your doc..Strattera made my depression alot worse. Wellbutrin was okay for me but I had to stop taking it.. Hurt my stomach.
Try to stay positive..There are so many more things to try.. It is hard when you are waiting to feel better but there is hope.

Tried Wellbutrin while taking Adderall 10mg, along with other things, and the Wellbutrin rather than help caused incredible depression in me. It is not necessarily the Adderall, which were you taking first? For some of us, Wellbutrin just isn't the miracle drug so many others find it to be, much to my disappointment, but the going off was as bad as the staying on. Good luck figuring this one out; just thought another who was depressed by Wellbutrin might help.

Thanks for the advice.
Upsandowns- I took the Adderall for a few weeks- didn't notice much. Then started the Wellbutrin a few weeks ago. Maybe it is the Wellbutrin...
Have you found anything that helps you now, I hope?
I tried SSRIs and Cymbalta...they only turned me into an emotionless zombie.

Adderall increased my depression quickly and severely -- it was very bad, and very quick, and no other psychostimulant has done that to me. In fact, I prefer methylphenidate, but have also had good luck with Dexedrine, and something else I can't remember.
Adderall is known to increase depression in some people. It could be that you're one of those people. It could also be the Wellbutrin -- but I'd look at the Adderall first.

Thank you, Racer. I stopped the Adderall today...Now just the Wellbutrin until I see my dr. on Tuesday...
I just wish I could find something that works already!!
