I am at my wits end. After years of trying to get into some kind of relationship (dating kind)my paxil is not working for me it seems.
I do fine in my life when I am single with it, with a blip here and there, but when propositioned with a potential relationship (gasp!) My GAD goes out of control and spins me back to lower than I was when I first wanted to pursue a relationship.
I finally went to the pdoc this weekend, and practically cried to him that I liked this guy and the anxiety about a new (dating) relationship is killing me and the potential for a relationship to develop.
His suggestion? Try either effexor or cymbalta. I know about the bad things about effexor. I know about it's half life I know about it's withdrawls. I have tried to change from paxil to lexapro once in 2003 and that was hell. I was begging to be put in the hospital.
I told the dr. that I wanted to try effexor, because I'm desperate and am not in the financial shape to go through another paxil-lexapro situation.
Has anyone done this change? Has the effexor helped? I know that everyone's brain chemistry is different, but I am curious on how it works for GAD (which seems to trigger the Depression EVERY TIME)
What about cymbalta? That's going to be the next step if it doesnt work.
This is the end of the thread.
