Does anyone know if I can take Tianeptine with oxycontin? For that matter with valium and ritalin also?

As far as I know, there are no contraindications with tianeptine except that it supposedly cannot be taken with MAO inhibitors. I would also stay away from tetracycline antibiotics (including doxycycline, etc) while taking tianeptine because both are metabolised by beta-oxidation and this wouldn't be good for the liver.
So, to the best of my knowledge, it shouldn't be a problem.

I agree, there shouldn't be any problem whatsoever!

Thanks both of you.
I tried the tianeptine making the assumption from all that I read it would be okay with the meds.
Unfortunately I am unable to tolerate it with my bladder disease.I took amineptine a couple of years ago and it did not bother my bladder and it helped my depression. I know of nothing else like it though?
I have some left but agian am unsure about mixing it with oxycontin, ritalin or valium?
Any suggestions should I decide to try that?

I take Valium with tianeptine and have had no problems. At the worst, it might seem to reduce the effectiveness of Valium because in the beginning of treatment tianeptine can be stimulating in some individuals. For me it did cause some stimulation/jitters, but after a while I was okay as my body adjusted.
Tianeptine isn't supposed to be a sedating or stimulating antidepressant, but I've found personally that it seems to have a slight stimulant effect in the beginning which quickly fades away with ongoing treatment and seems to help my anxiety.
I was able to reduce my dosage of Valium after being on tianeptine long-term.
I hope this helps. :-)
Good luck!

Hello Okydoky,
I am on Elavil in the evening, but I would prefer another drug as a sleep aid.
So I have these questions:
How is Tianeptine for sleep?
Which drug do you take in the evening as a sleep aid?Keep smiling,
X-ray

I am not taking Tianeptine I only tried it for a couple of days.
It is difficult to advise anyone on what will help them sleep. Read the Thread you were active in on psychobabble:
http://www.dr-bob.org/cgi-bin/pb/mget.pl?post=/babble/20080124/msgs/808726.htmlMuch depends on the other medications you are on, your own personal symptoms and why you are having trouble sleeping. There is no one solution that works for everyone.
I have tried every conceivable sleeping aid and R-x through the years including barbiturates. Nothing ever really worked for me.I would strongly suggest you take a look at the "alternative" board on this site and ask some questions there.
This might be redirected but I have recently found that the herb Valerian helps more than almost anything. It works extremely well when I take it in combination with a small amount of a benzo. Valerian has a tendency to potentiate some drugs.
I cannot take it constantly as my body adapts and it stops working.
Be careful There is no simple answer here.Good luck,
okydoky
