Xanax/Prozac

Posted by your#1fan on February 9, 2008, at 1:20:12

If you ever met me in person, you would understand why i have to take these medications.

I have severe states of emotional bottling up, that i have to cap up and act like im normal. But if it bursts, i have the most out of this earth panic attacks, sweat runs down my forehead, breath hard i sing a melody over and over to make it go away "you are my lucky star, lucky lucky lucky". I have to take 2mg Xanax or even 3mg to make it stop.

I talked with on-campus couselors, they taught me breathing techniges, i told them all the benzodiapines i've been over 5 years. Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax.

Im so plaged with fear during the day.

Prozac i've been on for 2 years, its a wonder medication, i've been through days i feel great, i have alot of sides of me. Prozac gives this inner confidence to help me deal with the day.

Thats about it.

See you guys!!!

You should try to get off the benzos. They are really bad for you. Maybe you could try Seroquel or Lexapro for your anxiety.

Did you ever talk to your psychiatrist about Lithium. You were to see him after Christmas I believe.

Maxime (who can't sleep and is annoyed about it)

If you were to ask my advice, I'd suggest -- strongly -- that you discontinue the benzodiazepines in favor of learning behavioral techniques to cope with your fears. Only if you found the behavioral techniques were not sufficient would I suggest augmenting them with medications.

Medications can only do so much. Optimal treatment for the sorts of symptoms you have complained of here for many years now would certainly include behavioral interventions as well as medications, particularly since you are so very young.

Maxime racer!

I glad i got time to post back! it looks like you two where the only ones who knew what to say HA...

I have to tell you, when i was 17 i was but on Klonopin .5mg, it worked for a while, (this is when i would have panic attacks) He switched to Ativan 1mg x 3 daily. Ativan didnt really work for me, i mean its such a mellow benzo, i would have panic attacks but feel something was trying to calm my nerve but it didnt work!
Put on Klonopin again at a high dose, WOKRED GREAT FOR A YEAR! I was so glad to come back to earth. The only reason i stopped klonopin was it had tremdous side effects on mood, very depressed when i took it. And i could not function on it.

My doctor finally got irritated, said and there only to meds for panic disorder "clonazepam" "alrazolam" that work best i've seen in his patinets. I switched to Xanax, which is actually good because less mental fogging, no mood change, and it only lasts two hours!

Now i've tried seroquel 100mg samples. It didnt really stop from anxiety, more so as slowing down thoughts.

But Zyprexa is exellent at slowing calming my racing thoughts and some ADHD, getting me back earth here!

The only thing is, i do take 2 benzodiapines, which temazepam really control this severe agitated insomina on certain nights.

I've been told about NEROTONIN by other people i've talk with, like on campus? and they do believe very much that i need a stimulant, or anything because i would just go off on something random...and keep talking, then slipped my glass of water too.

So, i just dont want to be sedated all day! thats the thing....

More Zyprexa maybe?

by the way im 20, you may know me from previous years.
